Re: [Mk2] [NA] oil pump upgrade in n/a rev3 3sge
So you're telling that gen3 3sgte pump will cavitate with higher rpm. Can you please tell for me what kind of experiece you have within case and what the cavitation makes for pump? I have been fighting long time with the pump issue with my circuit track mr2. Pumps (3 already) keeps eating its housin...

Re: 3S-GTE Oil pump problems. HELP!
I use the moroso for the extra capacity and cooling properties. Its not a "must have" upgrade, but seeing as I was replacing everything apart from the crank, I thought I'd go that extra bit further. My failures: -I drove track with semislicks and half oil level -I used thick oils which co...

Re: 3S-GTE Oil pump problems. HELP!
Forget now contamination, it's not real option. First rebuilding was made from clean engine and made by race team from neighbor which has build plenty of street 3s engines and also raced 10 years with toyotas 3s-gt (IMSA) engines in supersaloon and drag race dragster. At the moment they drive FHRA n...

Re: 3S-GTE Oil pump problems. HELP!
All the MR2 championship cars run on R888's, and I believe they do not use baffled sumps or modified oil pumps. Maybe a dumb question- but did you have your rocker cover sandblasted when you cleaned everything? I use to drive also R888 and race cars are lighter = faster in corners so shouldn't be p...

Re: 3S-GTE Oil pump problems. HELP!
I can't believe to contamination. Everything was taken to pieces and did clean it very careful. Damaged parts: pistons, bearings oil pump, pressure valve changed. Block got bigger boring and camshafts got chrome coating to bearings. Only place what I couldn't fix to perfect was damaged camshaft bear...

[Mk2] [Turbo] gen3 3S-GTE Oil pump assemply
My car is rev3 turbo Mr2 and engine 3S-GTE gen3. One garage rebuilt this engine 4000km (less than 3000miles) ago and oil pump is now broken. I have only gen2 3S-GTE (mr2 rev2) manuals and if compare assemply and manual, can see that pump assemply is different in these two. Difference is in drive gea...

[Mk2] [Turbo] kicks out gears under braking
Anyone knows something about this kind of problem: Mr2 MkII Turbo kicks out gears (3) with original gearbox in braking. This happens when drive track and brake hard to corner with motor resistance. One of our garage members smashed mr2 already to wall because of this. Gear just jump to neutral mode ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Hi HP Problems
Do you have idea which kind of engine serial numbers those earlier model gen3 has and which numbers start to be rev4 mr2 engines? My first engine got toasted (other reasons) so there is changed block which is now under construction. I think that it's newer gen3 but can't be sure. Engine builder told...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Track brakes 400HP?
Jani, ... If you go for big brake upgrades, you need to take care that that front/rear brake bias is maintained so the balance of the under under braking is right, with the rears doing a fair amount of the work. This is where you need to pay most attention - some big brakes kits ignore this and fit...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Track brakes 400HP?
Thank you very much. I tought at first that normal brakes aren't good enought in this case. I got same kind of information in other forum and it's nice to hear that orginal brakes are good. May be best option at start is change just trackday pads and good fluids. Let see later if it needs something...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Track brakes 400HP?
Revision 2 brakes with decent pads (Carbotech come highly recommended) are very good. I have 325mm HiSpec disks & 4 pot alloy calipers on mine. Stopping power is awesome. Image Replaced With URL For Quote http://www.zen98348.zen.co.uk/redbeast/images/DSC00242.jpg EarL. Thanks pal, it was fast :...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Track brakes 400HP?
Wanted good brakes for:
MR2 MK2 GT-S 400HP with slicks, circuit driving what lasts even driver is Kimi Räikkönen.

Brembo is good brand but their options doesn't give any choises for MR2.

Is there any experience and options to give?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Hi HP Problems
Thanks for answers! I think there shouldn't be problems. I have now 0,5mm bigger CP-pistons and power should stay under 500HP. I see power later but no need to go HI pressuress because trying to build perfect circuit toy, not dragrace joy. You can check my car in garage. Compression pressure g...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Hi HP Problems
I heard that 3S-GTE block could have problems after 450-500 FWHP. I heard also that weakest point is between 2. and 3. cylinder. Does anyone have kind of experiences with higher horsepowers in stock gen2 or gen3 block? Is there any kind of medicine for this kind of problems? Is there any differences...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] which oil?
I use now 20w-50 kendall GT-1.
Example Mobil 5W-40 isn't good option for 3s-g engines, they will eat it like oat meal.
