[Mk2] [Turbo] kicks out gears under braking

Post by janiK »

Anyone knows something about this kind of problem:
Mr2 MkII Turbo kicks out gears (3) with original gearbox in braking. This happens when drive track and brake hard to corner with motor resistance.
One of our garage members smashed mr2 already to wall because of this.
Gear just jump to neutral mode under braking sometimes.

Is there settings or gear parts what should check?
Is there something which wear out when use lot of motor braking?
Everything should be ok and we don't have ideas anymore.

Hello mate

I'd say engine mounts. specifically the ones on the front and back of the transmission(ie onto the engine bay firewall and the rear subframe).

This is because it sounds like the engine is rocking when coming off throttle, which is being transmitted through the gear selector mechinism.

If i come off the throttle too violently, sometimes i feel the gearstick jerk a bit - I reckon you've got a more extreme case of this.
