Most independent console shops will repair it for £30-£40, usually within an hour or two.
Thats what my best mate did, fortunately mine still seems fine.

Re: Starter mounting '88 Mk1b
Hmm, it may be a supercharger AE92 starter motor that you need then. That is what my 4agte conversion uses, and this mounts on the other side as i needed the extra space on the exhaust side to mount the turbo.
I had always assumed that the NA AE92 was the same.

Re: KYBs for MOT but what springs?
If you want a comfy ride, try to replace everything with standard parts or just bogo standard replcements from a parts shop. As soon as you lower or try to uprate anything, it gets stiffer. My track car has kyb shocks, apex springs and poly bushes. I won't lie to you, it actually makes my kidneys hu...

Re: OMP steering wheel and best size
Depends upon how much you drive the car. If it's a daily, i'd go for as big as you can 'til you think it looks rubbish. For the track however, i prefer my tiny little moutney wheel, i think it's about 320mm ish too. It is a tad heavy to manouvre, but since it spends most of its life on the front dri...

AFAIK its only a mod for the mk2, but who knows what crazy other toyota parts swaps might be available if you look hard enough.

Re: cable identification 4age..
There is a blade type connector that joins the loom via another connector on that side of the engine.
It is a ground that bolts directly to the bolt at the bottom of the coil pack/ignitor. Maybe thats it.

Blocked injectors? I had this. Does the car even attempt to start, or does it just keep turning over?

If you are worried about the throttle body you can just do as I have done for the moment, and use a mk1 NA throttle body with the idle control disconnected. It works fine.

Toni i just wonder why it has never taken off in the UK mk1 mr2 world though? Because it's a $%^&(BEEP), &*^%(BEEP) and :>?$£$(BEEP) pain to do as the parts just aren't there. Supercharger bits are hard enough to get, let alone pulling them apart to bolt on a turbo - and then there's the ma...
