Holy moly!
Not that's what I'm talking about! Can you buy that kit as a bolt on?

Any more info on this? The URL just gives an index of piccies. I'd love a car like that... Provided you didn't have to rebuild it every 500 miles.

theres one in south africa that runs 10's

There are kits.

But join a USA forum, or australian forum and search! There are loads of 4agtes and modded MR2's everwhere in the world (apart from the uk), most are self made kits.

The std N/a box eats itself at about ~250-300 bhp anyway

The delay to start are not counted in the 1/4 timing, that falls under the reaction time. You could leave a minute late and still get the proper 1/4mile run's timing. At least that's how it was when I used to drag in Malta.

It can be reasonably inexpensive, certainly in non 11-sec specification.

[devils advocate mode]Not too many mk1.6/2.6 under the 14s 1/4 mark either...

I don't want to start an argument thread, hence the agree to disagree :thumleft: . Both engines have there merits and problems, and I'm also not saying you can build one for £350 (well you can, I did and had a 2m fountain of oil everywhere as I blew the oil feeds)

But in comparative costs to a conversion, they are up there, although ultimately, yes the 3sgte can get more power reliably, its not the be all and end all that’s all i'm saying. USA, Australia etc have more 250-300bhp 4agte’s than they do superchargers, they wouldn’t if it didn’t work (I still want a V6  ). All you need to do is look in South Africa, they have no tuning parts and very little money and they have 4agtes running all day and everyday, even a 10second 4agte.

mk1chris's 4agte cost about ~£1k IIRC (he had 4agze to start with, so add the cost of an ecu on top of that for realistic price) and is the first one running in a Mk1 that we know about (in the uk), so its hard to compare the different engines in the uk when you have a statistical sample of 1. Although there is a AE86 that runs around in a 4agtte. So i'm not going round saying you can get 400bhp for £3.56, or saying its easy, I'm just saying its comparative.

So agree to disagree :thumleft:

Have seen loads of turbo AE86s over on Driftworks, nearly bought one in fact! Seems there was an HKS kit (now likely discontinued), you can still get the manifold but it isn't a great fit for the AW11.

So, if you two are going to Santa Pod this year, don't forget me. I have an engine in a car...

There was a HKS 4agte turbo and manifold that sold on ebay recently for £80!

Yep have definitely seen a couple about. But as I say (and I know from experience  ) the AE86 manifold is a 'mare to fit in the AW11.
