[Mk2] [Turbo] steering rack fitting

Has anyone fitted a steering rack before? How difficult is it or should i just pay a garage to do it? :?: Just seeing how much i'd be saving if its just a straight forward job or a garage one

knocking noise from the rear wheel area

My mk2 turbo started making a loud knocking noise from the rear drivers side as the car is moving. Nothing is hitting against the wheel and nothing visable wrong from looking up when the rear is jacked. The noise comes and goes but the knocking noise goes away when the clutch is depressed. Any ideas?
