[Mk2] [Turbo] Squeaking clutch pedal

Post by Hunders »

When I depress the clutch pedal there is squeak/creak noise. Its rather embarrassing when there are lots of people around as it is quite loud so I want to sort it out.

I have tried hanging my head out of the window while pressing the clutch to hear where it is coming from but I can't seem to pinpoint it so I don't know if its from the front or rear.

Does anyone have any ideas on where it could be coming from?

Cheers.

its usually the clutch fork I think on the gearbox if you can hear it outside.

As said it comes from the release fork, when a new clutch is fitted it needs to be greased up.

What you need to do is get under the car, find the gearbox and there will be a rubber boot with a hole in it on the GB, you can pull that back, then get someone to keep pressing the clutch while you spray some lube in there.

Only problem is im not sure how easy it is to spray something like the clutch that shouldn't have oil on and generally ive found it only lasts a few weeks. It does make the clutch feel a little lighter though and get rid of the annoying creak.

Thanks for the help mate.

I sprayed a load of WD40 in there today and the squeak is gone! HURRAH!

That squeak was so annoying and I am so glad that it is sorted... Even if it only lasts two weeks at least I know how to fix it now and it only takes 5 minutes.

Cheers.
