Re: Are Turbo and N/A radiators the same?

Turbo radiators (and some JDM NA models) use a slightly wider radiator. This can mean the NA fans don't fit quite as well

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Lexus Rx300 engined Mk2

Nice work. Great to have lots of different engine options. What 3SGTE has been used in your chart? Presumably the Rev3,4 &5 units will be putting out more than the Rev1 & 2's? I suspect the torque curve labelled 3S-GTE is actually a 3SGE torque curve. :thumleft: I'd like a 3S-GE that has 20...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Lexus Rx300 engined Mk2

Is the vvti in these essentially a lowdown torque booster? Or an rpm power increase ala vtec? Both in reality, but primarily to smooth the torque curve over the rev range in 'F' applications. 'G' cylinder head applications (like the BEAMS 3S-GE) use the VVTi to increase low-mid range torque I belie...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Suspension Swap

Jay, Might be interested in speaking to you about getting a suspension set-up. I have the following to install on my Rev 4 in the near future, and looks like a similar set-up to you: Koni Dampers Eibach Springs Whiteline 21mm ARB's or 24mm ARB's Cusco front adjustable tension rods Also have a quick ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] 15" tyres : Federal RSR

The RSRs are comparable to the likes of Toyo R888's or Yokohama A048 with regards to dry grip, and significantly better than the likes of average street tyres like T1R or S02 (I've used both types on my VX220) You would probably find a 205 rear has as much dry grip as a 225 road tyre. Problem is thy...

Re: Is the Mk3 underpowered?

Depends on YOUR definition of quick and what you use the car for / how you drive. If your after a powerful RWD Japanese car with mile munching capabilities along the lines of a RX7, 200SX, supra etc. then I'd say the mk3 isn't for you. The mk3 is a MX-5 competitor in that respect. In direct comparis...

MRV6 was running a SC 1MZ up until about a couple of years ago, then had it swapped for a 2GRFE. It wasn't the Vvti version of the 1MZ though if that makes much difference..

Re: Cheap Beams ... Anyone here?

A failed head-gasket is an interesting one - the 3S-GE isn't known for damaging them. As noted above, would be worried its a cooling related issue, which has damaged the (difficult to find) cylinder head :-k

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] How can I tell if front top mounts are gone?

Knocking both going over bumps and when changing direction. Not sure if you can feel any real resistance due to fubar'd bearing if the car has power steering. You also can't inspect the bearing fully without removing the strut. You'll then be able to tell the condition of the bearing, and if its goo...

Re: MR2 SW20 RHD Power Steering Quick Steer Pinion.

If the pinion works with the PS disabled, then I'd say either a fault has developed during fitting, or something hasn't been reinstalled quite right. As above my understanding of the PS system is that it simply reduces assistance to the steering rack at higher road speeds (where you don't need or ne...
