Re: Sump
Drain the oil using an oil extractor siphon out the dipstick tube, Google it Pella is a good make. Drop the now empty sump and repair the plug. If you do go down the replacement sump route a few things to consider. 1. They are not cheap and could be difficult to source a replacement. 2. The bolts th...

Opportunity missed there Paul with the gauge pod you could have made a handy tray for the Ray-Bans if you had flattened and recessed the top slightly. Otherwise Superb.

Beat me to it Paul.
All structural bolted connections are a minimum of 2 bolts for precisely the reasons Paul has stated.

If it aint broke don't fix it.
I despair at the number of times people get sucked into replacing perfectly servicable parts. There are exceptions of course particularly with suspension parts which I agree with replacing in sets.

Re: Can't bring myself to sell...
Yep I feel your pain, I've had mine over 10 years and as recently as October this year finally decided I wasn't using it enough and it would be better for the car to go to someone with more enthusiasm for it than me, so put it up for sale. Had some interest in it but not really anything that came to...

Re: Fire
I had a small fire in my mk1a when I fitted a Jimi bracket. Let me say absolutely categorically it was nothing to do with Jimi's design but only my own stupidity. I wrongly routed the throttle cable too close to the battery positive terminal, the cable must have rubbed against the clamp and frayed t...

If I still have mine, which is most likely, then I'll pop along. Looking to sell mine as no longer have the space and time for it since I got back into motorbikes. Any idea of dates yet?

I had the same thing happen to me a while back, had just recently changed the water pump and coolant, believe it was an air lock but was also advised to change the pressure cap, did this and never had a problem since.
