Re: white mk2 with black bonnet

If you know of anywhere in Coventry city centre where there's space and road enough to go sideways please share - they can't stop digging it up, the twunts.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] The LED Fever continues - fog lights ... now heater, finally!

Just tore all my PS2 and stuff out of the car last weekend. Easy enough to do, cheap £15 inverter and you're off :thumleft:

The newer flat flip-up lid model fits right in the glovebox and the controller leads butt up against the side of the catch so it stay in position nicely.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Bong bonger? - or reminders if you're posh. Stopped working

Ooo ... I remember finding a plug with nothing on it once, behind the stereo.

Think that's my bonger then? without the bong section?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Bong bonger? - or reminders if you're posh. Stopped working

I've got a headlight reminder "beeeeeeeeper" but no key-in-ignition "bonger"...

Heard about key bongers for the first time ever last week :-k

Re: [Mk2] [NA] fuses...are some missing?

I believe the DOME fuse also runs the headunit.

As for the missing fuse, no harm in putting one in there.

The others I would replace at the same time especially the one with the wrong rating.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] rear after market, fog light switch

One more thing, neither of the UK switches look like that from behind ...

Fairly sure you can get a "light up when on" switch from Maplins just to get it through the MOT if it gets desperate.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] rear after market, fog light switch

A few others are having this problem too. AFAIK import tubbies don't have the "rear fog alert" on the dashboard like UK cars do. When rear fogs are on there's a fog light shape the comes up in the bottom left hand cluster. Therefore UK cars don't need an illuminating warning light in the s...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] The LED Fever continues - fog lights ... now heater, finally!

I've always fancied LED pedals :-s You remember Knight Rider's pedals ..? That was on my list of "can I do that" things. I want to get some new rubbers for the pedals and start working from new. I'll let you know if it works, haha. The limo LEDs were more a case of boredom. I ha...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] The LED Fever continues - fog lights ... now heater, finally!

That IS good news ... I was thinking about it for ages. Trevor gave me one to see if I could do his with blue ones but I never started it as I kept thinking it'd need resistors and/or I'd open it and all springs and things would go pinging around. I'd like to have a go ... just getting a spare after...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] The LED Fever continues - fog lights ... now heater, finally!

I've got ignition ring, lighter, ashtray, footwells, door pull lights, door pocket lights, clock acrylic, limo lights built into the kicker plates along the carpet, courtesy lights, and cubby box fitted in red. Speedhut dials in black with red backlit. But haven't managed the heater lights as of yet...

[Mk2] [Generic] The LED Fever continues - fog lights ... now heater, finally!

Well once again I have too much time on my hands, and out comes the soldering iron ... I got a pack of 3mm LEDs from Maplins, thinking it would be a straight swapover, but the first one I tried blew, so that was that. Obviously needed a resistor but it's quite a tight space so wasn't looking forward...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Cubby Box Lighting Project - now two-coloured ...

Update ... Since I did Trevor's cubby box I kept putting mine off, as I do like the red LED glow it isn't always beneficial to actually seeing what you want, everything's red so it can get a bit in your face. I was stuck between wanting red for show, or white for functionality. So now I have both .....

Ironically I have the opposite dilemma, I've got the red LED lighting and the buttons on my double din DVD are all blue ... should I start hacking it to bits or just sell it?

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] CLOCK LED, Possible GB on RED/BLUE ACRYLIC PRE-CUT FACES

OK .. here's my idea. Instead of me sending out bits of acrylic to whoever asks for some and costing me postage every time, I will send what I've got (all of it) to whoever PM's me first. I'll post up who it's been sent to. That person cuts their bit off, and they send what's left to whoever PM's th...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] CLOCK LED, Possible GB on RED/BLUE ACRYLIC PRE-CUT FACES

After ordering the clear red from ebay, today I did the mod ... 2 minutes start to finish. 1) Pop off clock surround (don't dent the dash at the sides) 2) Carefully pop off the smoke filter on the clock. This reveals a very bright clock, so if you're going for white, you can put the surround back on...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Cubby Box Lighting Project - now two-coloured ...

You say that like it's a bad thing :eye: The glovebox irritated me enough to want a light in there, and it was so easy and cheap to do. The cubby box took longer but was worth the effort. The thing is, I keep things in mine like sat-nav leads, phone-charge leads, bits and pieces and god knows what, ...
