Re: Top 10 MR2 Turbo Mods
Having done some light tuning on a rev2 turbo I would say ecu. The rev1/2 turbo ecu is the most paranoid safety first ecu I've seen on any Toyota. Pulls timing and dumps all petrol available at the slightest sign of knock/ full throttle. I put in a zero sports preprogrammed ecu and got a lovely 11.5...

Ct26 turbo comes in with a bang, ct20 more progressive.
Feels like less kick but you win further up the revs.

Re: GT4 ST205 3SGTE engine into MK2 MR2?
You can use that engine but without a loom
/ecu from a turbo rev3 mr2 or later electrics would be very tricky.
Intercooler is different, non turbo gearbox is maybe not best choice and then there's exhaust.

Better off starting with an engine or complete rear clip from an mr2 turbo

Fensport claim to have got 200bhp out of an st202 Celica they raced(same engine).
Only major mod was upping compression with a skim.
Original ecu.

Re: Sorry Sky, Admiral wins!
Great price, though I would never go back to Admiral myself even if they were the cheapest. I found their customer service to be pretty dire when I actually needed them during a claim process a few years ago. Agreed Admiral are just a nightmare if you need to claim from them. Will never use them, o...

Re: Importing from Japan
My car was 2600usd before shipping, about 1500 quid.
Including a years road tax took it to 3700gbp on the road, job done.

But it's the only one in Ireland and I love the car so it was worth it.
And no rust underneath whatsoever!

Re: Importing from Japan
Bought one on tradecarview this year. 1500 quid plus about 1500 usd shipping plus 150 paytrade fee plus import duty/vat plus dock fees to take it off the boat. Then cost to actually pick it up from docks. Then 55 quid registration after mot. You need insurance to register it so think about how you'r...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Brake upgrade
I think carbotechs are a bit pricey. We use yellow stuff front and rear with racing brake fluid and aftermarket hoses. Total price about 170 quid, brakes will not fade one bit and have terrific power on our local track. Just my opinion. I only upgrade if it really makes a difference in the real worl...

Re: Why are so many 2's being broken for scrap?
On the other side of things I've seen more than a few of these cars make their way into the hands of eejits. Takes about double the hours on maintenance as a similar 90s hot hatch so pretty soon it's mot failure then a stint sitting about doing nothing. And these cars need driven regularly . So scra...

Re: blitz nur spec r exhaust for the mr2 turbo with baffle cause alot backpressure
I did some testing of my nur spec with/without bung. Definitely the bung held the car back slightly. Found the car too loud for my liking without the bung. Neighbours not happy. I ended up cutting half of the pipe on the inner side of the bung and found that to be a compromise I could live with. How...

Stethoscope is a great thing.
Poke it at water pump and alternator, probably one of those.

Be an interesting prospect.
Rev3 engine can rev better than rev2, could the ct26 keep up?

[Mk2] [NA] Rev1 rear wheels on rev3
Wondered if anyone had managed to fit rev1 rear wheels over the later rev2 plus discs and calipers.
Reason is sort of track car based.
Know the fronts don't fit but doesn't matter.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] tien s tec springs; reveiw
Used them on track with black billies, pretty good with not much roll.
Actually thought they were softish.
Put them on the road car and o my god.
Even slightly low manholes had me slowing down to a crawl.
Loved the low stance but tiresome if you have roads like belfasts.

If the bottom one is easier then take the shock off.
Will affect your alignment settings though.

Re: Drop link removal and other MOT fun and games.
No reserve travel. Tester had to pull it right back to achieve a pass. Adjust cable mechanism and/or Check calipers and grease sliders if needed. Check smooth operation of handbrake cables themselves too. Usually calipers tho. Some drop links unfortunately require the grinder but see if you can get ...

Re: just bought an mr2, will it survive a track day?
If the cooling system is fine with no issues you will do well to blow up a rev3 na engine.
They lap up abuse on track.
