Re: belt advice

I wouldn't judge the belts condition by looks. Ive seen belts that look "new" snap, and ive had experience of belts snapping even with "history" to say its been done. Do it for peace of mind. With the 3S-GE i wouldn't be worried as much as i would with an interference engine. Eve...

Re: Rev3 red with 12 months MOT

Value tends to vary depending on condition really. With the FSH and full years MOT with no advisories, on paper it sounds like it could be a solid enough Mk2.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Fuel: Starved at hight revs, too much at tick over

Deffo have a good look at the TVIS/ACIS system as it sounds like the flaps could be stuck open. No low down power and no kick at 5k+ would give the symptoms of the flaps being open when they shouldn't be. You can check by hand if they are operating smoothly, but also take the cover off and make sure...

Wheel fitment and studs etc....

So ive found a set of wheels i quite like. Nothing fancy, OZ Hydra 17x8 ET40 with 205 45 tyres. Now what im not sure about is the wheel nuts. At the moment i have tapered nuts, not the standard MR2 long nuts with the washers. Am i right in thinking most aftermarket wheels require tapered nuts or wou...

I would stick with Super Red 2 also. Just how a red should be imo.

Re: Mk2 feels a bit hairy at speed.....

Thanks for the help. Alignment check is a good shout also.

I'll try the wider tyre's/spacers combo 1st and see how i get on as i had planned on spacers anyway.

Re: Mk2 feels a bit hairy at speed.....

No they aren't staggered and have 195 tyres all round.

Short of buying new wheels as i quite like the BBS, would a set of spacers on the rear help?? I could get away with at least 20mm, there's quite a bit of space between the wheel and arch.

Mk2 feels a bit hairy at speed.....

So, its always been on bk of my mind so thought i would ask. I have a Rev 3 N/A, totally standard suspension wise and feels solid enough. But ive noticed that when sitting on motorway it feels a bit wooly. Like your always needing to concentrate on steering input if you know what i mean. Like it wou...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Possible bolt sheared off car, ID help!!

Mine was the same, but it was hanging out.

Bolt was threaded so i just got a long bolt (100mm) and put a nut on the end. Has been fine ever since.

Looks the same as the alternator bottom bolt. Might be worth checking that out.

For me it has to be the 1 piece Super Advan's. They look epic on MR2's.

Re: My Mk2 No.2.....

No they are bolts, 10mm or 12mm iirc.

Its time consuming the 1st time, but i bet once you've done it, you be like i could probably do that again in 20mins.

Re: My Mk2 No.2.....

Thanks. It was straight forward enough, but a ball ache. The worst is the 2 that are right inside the front of the wing where it attaches to the bumper. 1 came off ok, the other didn't. In the end i had to cut the old wing off to get to that bolt then just cut it off. Then you have some on the upper...

Re: Is a warm idle of 750rpm bad

You think 750 is bad, try living with under 500 rpm. My N/A has a warm idle of around 490-500 rpm. But it dosn't bother me as it runs spot on and pulls hard through the cogs. It has cut out on me twice in 1 night when pulling up to a junction. But hasn't done it since i gave it a telling off with my...

Re: Ridiculous Insurance and trying to get to 15 posts.

Have you tried some comparison sites??

Also with it being garaged, it makes the premium higher. For some reason, parked in the street usually gives cheaper quotes over garaged/parked in the driveway.

Re: Ridiculous Insurance and trying to get to 15 posts.

I think my lack of NCB is what makes it seem so high. Its considerably cheaper than other cars ive had with less power and what not. I could get it for around £500 but that would mean starting another policy which i don't want to do as im trying to build up NCB and only have a few months left till e...
