Re: carrying a bmx on my mr2
When I had my mk1 I used a Halfords Advanced high level rack, fitted and worked really well. Never had a single problem with it and used it a lot, took under 2 mins to take on and off. http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/6428/dsc01046o.jpg http://img847.imageshack.us/img847/984/dsc010471.jpg One thin...

Re: Roof mounted cycle carrier
I've padded the rack with pipe lagging so it doesn't mark the bike where it rests against it, i also don't have any paint on either of my bikes so it doesn't really matter anyway!! I use my rack just about every weekend, it'll quite happily sit at 70+mph, i don't notice any drag and it's always comp...

Re: Roof mounted cycle carrier
I've got a Halfords 3 bike high mount rack that fits perfectly on the back of a mk1. I regularly use it to carry my Cannondale DH bike around, though it won't work with all designs of full suspension bikes. I have to remove the front wheel to stop it hitting the spoiler (or pad the spoiler with pipe...

Re: New owner - headgasket advice needed!
I realise pressure will build as the coolant heats up, but the above happens when the car is totally cold and not running long enough to heat up.

Re: New owner - headgasket advice needed!
I'm pretty sure the coolant system is being pressurised. Everytime the car is started even for a short while and stopped i quickly get a small pool of coolant under the car leaking from the radiator, when the engine is off the rad doesn't even drip. Also when the car is cold i tried taking the press...

Re: New owner - headgasket advice needed!
Apart from the HG, is the engine showing any other signs of tiredness e.g. low oil pressure, smokey exhaust etc. ? If not then swapping the engine could just be replacing a known problem with a load of unknown ones. Apart from a 50 mile drive home the car hasn't been driven other than being moved i...

Hello, Im new to mk1 ownership but not to mr2s having owned a mk2 turbo a couple of years ago which I sold to buy a motorbike. I might be looking at getting an MR2 again.
Definitely interested in knowing roughly what you'd be after.

Had the same problem with mine, turned out to be the horn relay.
Replaced it and worked fine.

I'm sure my dad has a set of genuine toyota roof bars that he has no need for
(sold his toyota a few years ago) that he'd be willing to sell.

If you are interested let me know the part number and i'll see if it matches.

Re: where is the horn
Have you tried replacing the horn relay? The horn on my car packed up, you could still hear the relay clicking under the bonnet whenever the horn was pressed so dismissed that as the problem. Spent ages trying to track down the problem then swapped the relay out with a mates car and it worked first ...

I'm 6'2" and to be fair it only gets painful if you get stuck in a bit of traffic, once you're up to speed it's fine.
