I might be looking at getting an MR2 again. Definitely interested in knowing roughly what you'd be after.

To answer a few questions that have been emailed :

I bought this car almost 5 years ago after importing it from Japan through MR2-Direct -Imports with 32K documented miles and full service history. I am the first registered UK keeper.

It is a Mk2 rev3 GT with full electric pack and optional OEM Recaro cloth seats, Momo steering wheel and gear knob. Manufactured in December 1995 and put on the road Jan 1996. IIRC, as she has been garaged since November 2006, there are 54K miles on the clock.

Never used in the winter months, so only on the road about 8 months of the year. Serviced by myself every 6 months/4.5k miles or sometimes more frequently. Timing belt changed about 2 years ago at about 45K miles. I will have to get the reciept out to check mileage. Receipts for all service parts, and upgrade parts purchased.

This is a VERY clean car.

In respect of price, take a look at http://www.mr2-direct-imports.co.uk/ compare with what is available on there with similar mods documented in my garage and make me your best offer.

I am not desparate to sell, or stuck for the cash, so forget any silly offers.

Thanks.

PS. Forgot to add that for all this car can put down around 280bhp at the hubs (~310bhp at the fly. Mapped by Thor Racing), she has not been around any circuit or up any drag strip, and seen very little "spirited driving" on the road.

TONY NOOOO... what are you doing?? keep it untill the JAE at least?

i have seen this car in the flesh and it truly is a one off, it is minty mint, loved this car from the minute i saw it, it has a perfect stance and the colour :)

Not really for the faint hearted either, although it only ever got over 60 when eileen (spelling) drove it.

good luck with the sale mate, dont know how much your letting it go for but i would say easy worth 6-7+

Hi Tony,

I remember talking to Julian (??I think that was him) at the import garage when this car first came in to the UK and wanted to buy it but he said it was specifically imported for a customer but he said it had had front end damage but repaired well.

Can you tell what damage was done in the accident to the car?

Julain was saying the front end was re-built before it came to the UK.

I'm interested in it but the fact that its been in a smah up is putting me off somewhat.

Thanks
Andy

That must have been another car mate. I have documentation to prove the grading of the car in Japan which must show and document all problem areas with the car. I gave Julian a strict specification to the car I wanted and it had to be mint with no previous damage repair. I take him as a man of his word.

if the car was crash damaged in japan, it would not be given an auction grading of 1-5, it would be classed as something else, i think it would be an r or something like that.

This car DOES NOT have a cat fitted. I am running a 3" de-cat downpipe. This car (manufactured Dec 1995, first registered in Japan, January 1996) does fall into the category of having to pass the emissions test for a car fitted with a cat. Although a cat does not have to be present, the car must pass this emissions test. MOT is due in May. This year I will probably modify the PowerFC map temporarily to get it through its test. I can then save that map for future MOT tests and restore the Thor Racing map. Forgot to add there is a Datalogit that will be included with the car. This is alot easier for modifying the fuel/ignition maps than using the commander, and it allows you to save and restore maps.

Rear tyres are Eagle F1's with about 4000 miles on them. Still look brand new with almost full tread as this car is not abused when driven. Fronts are Yokohama's I think, pleanty of tread and have been on for 5 years. WIll check on these at weekend and update.

Rims are not curbed, however, where the nuts screw onto studs the paint has been rubbed off a bit in some holes due to a stupid apprentice fitter at National Tyres when I got the wheels balanced. This has been touched with alloy paint and is difficult to see. I will try and take some pics this weekend.

The body paint work is original. A few small chips on the bonnet are present as would expected for a car that has not been resprayed. I have not touched them up with paint as they are so small, and as the car is waxed thoroughly there is no need of worrying about corrosion. The MRD side skirts and rev5 spoiler I had fitted are a perfect colour match to the original bodywork and anyone would think that they could be OEM. There is no corrosion on the car. I wax-oyled the wheel arches and sills etc, as soon as I got the car, but the car has never been on the roads during winter months when the roads have been salted.

In reference to dents. There is one very small pin head dent near the fuel filler cap, but you dont notice it unless you know it is there. There are three small paint chips that have been treated with colour coded paint. One just behind the T-bar on the passenger side, and one on each front wing. Again these are very small dots about 3mm in size and are not noticeable unless you look for them. There are no scrathces or corrosion. I would class the paintwork as mint for its age. This car was imported as a 4.5 grading, (5 being the highest).

Tax is due end of this month so I will be putting 6 months tax on it then.

Handling wise is great as you can imagine with the suspension configuration. There is a slight knock which I am confident is due to the ARB bushes needing replaced on the rear. I will be doing that for the car going back on the road.

I will give people as much info and images as possible as I dont want to waste your time, but you must understand I am looking for top money for this car. Julian at MR2-Direct-Imports has standard cars of the same age as mine on his website ranging from £7.5 to £9.2K. I believe I could put my car back to OEM spec and sell it for £6k. I have almost £6K of upgrades on this car which I could sell for around £3k if I put the car back to standard. Now you know what kind of price I am looking for.

I dont want to start a thread off about "But I can get a rev3 for £4k" etc. If thats how much you want to spend go and get it. I am not prepared to sell parts off the car. She is sold "as is". HTH.
