Should be possible to get an ordinary towbar for the MR2 Ross (to tow a small trailer)

There are cycle carriers which, in turn can be attached to a tow bar

you of course have a trailer board with lights? even at that i'd want my £800 MTB transported safer than that
I'm sure Jo's mounts above the engine lid

No becuase its not mine (it is a member/old meber on here though).

Why safer then that? A bike rack on a standard car hangs the bike off the back. Whats the difference?

thanks for all your replys i do like that one that sits right on the back you can still see and im sure its secure enough to hold a little bmx.

at least i now know you can actualy get ones to fit onto the car, everything i seemed to serch for ended up with nothing apart from people making there own ones.

just looks
1 abit low
2 asking for a nudge from following traffic, damaging both bike & car
3 obscures lights and no. plate earning you a potential FPN £60 + 3 points

std bike carrier, teathered through the sunroof and resting on the engine cover, leaving the bike high and safe from damage

One thing for certain. I'll never be seen carrying a bike on my MR2

I think its a most inappropriate combination

i do agree when its just me in the car the bike will be in the car but when some one els is in the car i need it els were ive also been thinking if i can fit it inside the car if i take the wheels off i pick up the bike tomorrow so its only a bmx so i might be able to get it to fit inside some how, it would save a lot of issues.

also i didnt think about the rack blocking the lights and i bet you would get an idiot drive into the bike.

i need to get the bike and think about my options i think, being my only car i have to sort out transport for the bike in or on this car some how

With it only being a BMX you may be able to work something out with a luggage rack on the engine cover. When Vix broke her ankle we were lugging a wheelchair around on one for a couple of months.

I find mine tricky to reverse at the best of times

Don't fancy the idea of having my view restricted even further

Saris Bones 3 on my MR2 with my MTB:

I've done a couple of motorway trips with it and it's been fine. I'll grant that it's not ideal, but it works. (And yes, I have a separate lighting board with additional numberplate, just couldn't be bothered to fit when I was taking this photo)

Edit: I've carried 2 bikes no problems and have tried 3 bikes, though it was a push and something I'd rather avoid!

The yellow carrier seems to fit very neatly MM

Provided the metal bumper bar and the foam are still in situ

Even so, & given the lighting / regplate board I still don't fancy the restriction to rear view

When I had my mk1 I used a Halfords Advanced high level rack, fitted and worked really well. Never had a single problem with it and used it a lot, took under 2 mins to take on and off.

That's great, but when it's your only car you don't have many alternatives.

Looks like a practical solution
