Re: Doing an oil change

I wrote an article here:

http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/kb.php?mode=article&k=67

which though basic and covers the turbo car might help. It's easy to do, and my filter came off without any struggles. A search for relating articles brings up a few other handy hints.

Re: sensor? on engine lid

Yours looks like a Rev2 from the photos. Though not an ideal way to identify the Rev2 / Rev3+, the spoiler on the back of a Rev1 and Rev2 is spilt into three parts, one attached to the boot and two side parts attached to the body. The Rev3 and above have a single spoiler attached to the boot only. O...

Re: [MK2 Rev3 Turbo] Problem removing Dipstick guide bolt

Fixed at last - indeed a dead easy job once I'd got the dipstick holder bolt undone. In the end I added a couple of new tools to my arsenal, buying a new breaker bar, 1/2" extension rod and a 1/2" 12mm socket. It does seem that whilst a bad workman can blame his tools, sometimes the right ...

Re: refridgeration technology in charge coolers?

Active cooling of the air from the turbo isn't a silly idea, and there are a few confusions here about the principals. I'm not an expert on intercoolers, but have a doctorate in nonlinear fluid dynamics physics so the general principals I'll mention should be roughly correct. First off cooling the a...

Ta - will PM daveB.

Anyone else who has a solution is free to post a response in the meantime! I can't believe I spent my lunch break seriously considering several air powered impact wrenches...

[MK2 Rev3 Turbo] Problem removing Dipstick guide bolt

Over the weekend I set about removing the thermostat housing in order to replace my thermostat with a new one, as it's stuck open. After many forum posts having gone on about how some of the 10mm bolts on the thermostat housing were tricky to get off, I made sure I could loosen these before I set of...

Re: [Mk2 Turbo] Running cold ..... thermostat?

Hi guys - got the same problem but a little confused on the details here. The manual says to drain the coolant, but Fonzy's suggesting that you only need to top up and bleed afterwards? I'm assuming this means that the stat is not so low down as to spill all the coolant out once you've changed it. O...

Re: Thermostat problems (MK2 Rev3 Turbo)

Thanks for the response - if it's fully encased it looks like I'll need to drain the coolant to check it out. I wasn't mistaking this for the cabin-heater thermostat (at least I think I'm not), but the diagrams on the manual are a little vague - so I was unsure if the valve had a protusion I could c...

Thermostat problems (MK2 Rev3 Turbo)

Recently my car has stopped getting up to temperature. Symptoms are that even after a prolonged drive on the motorway the temperature gauge doesn't go above 1/4 full scale (normally sits at 1/2). When I stop the car and turn off the engine, then come back to it a few minutes later and start it up th...

Re: WATER TEMP GUAGE NOT WORKING

My temperature gauge has recently started to read odd values. Even after a while on the motorway it's reporting low temperatures, though occasionaly it appears to read correctly.

Where is the water temp sender / receiver as I'll try to changet this as the first possibility.

Cheers in advance,

Doug.

I've used Toyotech in oldham before: Toyotech 0161 628 4148 Unit 2/2a Stockfield Mill Melbourne St Chadderton Oldham OL9 9ES Use "Toyotech Oldham" as a search in google, then follow the local results link which has a map. They're cheap, work only on Toyota's, and so far have been very good...
