Hi All
I've got some spare tickets for this, ( I'm organising the stand for the MK1 Club, )
If you've got a Mk1 and you would like to come along please drop me an email or PM and I'll try to get you a place. Mk1 Club members will get preference, but I 'm sure there will be spares..
John
I had mine on the club stand last year. Take comfy shoes, you'll be on your feet ALL the time. Have plenty of cash, it's expensive, buy lunch on the way in. If your showing your car, it WILL get marked, hopefully only lightly. It is extremely busy, and the public seem to have zero respect for your s...
Subs can now be paid by paypal! Ahh right, Ok, I had one chap tell me he'd attempted to do this but failed, so I thought that it was not available, hence my comments. . I've had a look on the mk1 web site but I can't find a mention of it. I say this because the Mk1 club web site is still the first ...
I'm relaxing after the weekend at Tatton Park, which is a big event in the Northwest. We had fourteen cars on Saturday and fifteen today, plus a potential three new members. Very promising for us. In a conversation about club stuff in general it was mentioned that the joining (and rejoining) process...
I'd be too embarrassed to go to a club meet... my car's got alloys off a Rover. Can't afford to replace them yet! I wouldn't let that stop you, the fact is you'd be arriving in a Mk1 to a meet! I've found out the people at club meets would welcome you what ever you drive. You'll gain more insight b...
I think Ive still got one of the old club card flyers in the Mk1, it was really an application form printed on card. A downloadable one you could print off at home would be a great addition. If it could be customized to include the local meets and contact details of the person applying it (in my ...
I'm pleased to see the meet was a success! Yes you could say a low attendance, but for any Mk1 to attend on a meeting day is a success in my eyes. I'd like to apologize for my non-attendance, it was my wedding anniversary and SWMBO's birthday, and I do like living  Good luck with the evening ...
Well, it was hot and sunny so no excuse to be inside working! It was good to see old and some new faces! Including mine, we had four Mk1s and Bill in a Mx5. Hopefully things are in motion to make this a more regular event. John Left to right, Jimbojet, Stuart Cameron, Bill Hulme, Barry and Kevin. ht...
John, if you're reading this, can you possibly send a reminder email out?
Hi Jimbo, your in luck, I have read this!
I'll send an email out tonight. I can't guarantee I'll be there, I know SySanguinary was trying to get a meet organised.
John
Hi Jon,
Those spaces are a sorry sight arn't they
I'm also sorry to say that the spring Tatton Park event is not going to include the MK1 club
But all is not lost, Sysanguinary is going to try and arrange a meet for June, and Tatton WILL happen in August.
John
hi everyone, Sorry for not being in touch for a while, I've had a change of direction in my work life. Tatton Park for the last few years has been down to a core of NWest members, together we sorted out tickets, mowing the pitch, erecting the club gazebo flags and signs. On the day ran and stocked t...
what is it worth? A common question at the meets and the shows, I've seen mid 20k mileage mint ones go for between £3k-£4.5k but seen 40K examples hit £5k. Mileage seems to not be a priority over condition in this area, original blemish free paint, and a perfect interior would be heaven at 50k! I c...
Hi Brin, I've done a few sets of covers, I've tried various paints and I got the most consistently good results come from Eastwood 'Alumablast'. You get it from Frost Restoration. For the lettering I use Humbrol gloss enamel (airfix paint). Here's a link to Frost's, go to the paint section and look ...
Hi All John the Northwest chap here, my area is quite large, North Cheshire to Lake District and Blackpool to the Pennies. My mailing list has sixty members on it's circulation. However I get around six to eight Mk1's attending meets, so 10%ish. But I have seen over 15 MK1's not bad I suppose. :shoc...
Hello everyone, I didn't attend, but I posted my apologies in advance of the meeting. I hope my report was some contribution. I had made sure the original date was clear however the change to September from October stuffed me. Would it be possible to arrange a date at the AGM for the next year? I'm ...
Weird how we get to 205's but.. My mate who put me on to MR2's changed his year old 'T'Bar for a new 205 1.6 gti, he needed the space for shopping
The standing joke was the gearbox, I think they were changed as frequently as the oil.. Thank god for warranties..

I met a chap at Tatton Park in August who was asking for advice about acquiring this car, looks like I talked him out if it! He was asking if it was worth the price and general information about Mk1 ownership. I remember enquiring about what he intended to do with it, weekend 'toy' car or suc...
why did we get pulled john? [rant]OK, my pet hate of Sunday drives are horse boxes, the geriatric 7.5tonne converted bread van variety. They seem to be driven by the horse rider who looks about 17, at a steady 28mph. They drive in convoy pumping out smelly diesel fumes as they go.. :pukel: [/rant] ...
