[North West MK1 Club] - Sun 26th Aug - Capethorne Hall Classic Show

Post by kirsty »

Sorry it's all a bit last minute!

If any mk1ers would like to come along to the Cheshire Classic Car and Motorcyle Show you're more than welcome!

I only found out about it last week whilst we were at Tatton, so we haven't managed to secure a proper pitch.
I've spoken to the organiser and there's no problem with us meeting up and convoying in and then we can all park up together.

I'll get the club flag off Bill tonight so that we can pop that up.

Show is from 10am to 4pm and will cost £5 per adult to enter. No additional cost for car.

Location is http://www.capesthorne.com/map.html

Names so far:

Hi Kirsty

It's looking good for me at the moment. I have the flags, but no poles...

I've inspected them and they covered in mud, I'll try to get them washed, but I've no idea how they might turn out...

Thought you'd said you wouldn't manage to make it?

I'm gonna get the poles off Bill tonight, was gonna call you about the flags ;)

Just need a meeting point near the show . . there's a few pubs along that road though, so shouldn't be too difficult ;)

OK

Meeting point for north crowd is Shell Garage in the centre of Knutsford at 09.30, we'll convoy from there

Kirsty
Blueninja66
Neil (tbc)
John Redmond
Bill Hulme

Bill and Neil, probably best just to show up just before 10 at the show and we'll get parked up all together. Should be similar format as Japs, so just hunt us down.

Well after turning up in convoy not knowing what to expect, we all had a pleasant surprise!

I stately home and grounds were the back drop, and the show ground running on to a picturesque river. We were given a very good spot on the main road though the show area, and with five Mk1's, we had lots of interest.
Thanks to Kirsty for all the arrangements!
So attendees, Kirsty, Bill Hulme, Steve (blueninja66), Neil (brin) and myself. Nice to see Lauren too.

A special thanks to the Cheshire Police Traffic Officer who chased me and Blueninja down at high speed ( ) and cut us off before questioning me....:pale: All ended with a friendly handshake :thumleft:

Good to meet a couple of you today :thumleft:

I left at about 2pm, unable to listen to the commentator any longer without the overwhelming desire to rip his face off and hurl it across a few fields. It's a classic car show - at least get someone who knows what a car is to commentate ](*,). My blood is boiling even now remembering Chevrolet Impaler and Nissan Firargo ](*,)

Other than that though, there were some lovely cars there :)

Hi Aitch,

Always nice to put a face to the (user) name.

I was interviewed by the said commentator, he did seem to have a bunch of 'stock' questions... But I suppose it most a hard thing to keep talking for eight hours, hmmmm, I can see an opportunity for my missus here..
Where could be a show on the 9th Sept, if your intrested, keep watching the events section..

why did we get pulled john? i couldnt grasp what the embarrased copper was saying to you.
thought it was because we "spirited" away from the lights. my numberplate, or lack of must have played a part.

Was a good show today, and we did well getting five cars in such a short space of time!

Sorry I had to leave earlty, well worth it though -I had a great blast through the Peaks over to the Derbyshire moors with the Pistonheads crew!

Wish I'd put sunblock on . . . I'm a nice shade of beetroot now!!

Will have to see if I can make the Preston show/meet . . will look at what's going on that weekend.

why did we get pulled john?

[rant]OK, my pet hate of Sunday drives are horse boxes, the geriatric 7.5tonne converted bread van variety. They seem to be driven by the horse rider who looks about 17, at a steady 28mph. They drive in convoy pumping out smelly diesel fumes as they go.. :pukel: [/rant]

So after encountering a convoy of these going though Knutsford, I waited until the right turn on to the A5** duel carriageway to the M*, I had a micra ahead, but that was 'dispensed with' in 2nd at 8000rpm
I looked back to see were Steve was, only to see blue lights, a quick glance at the speedo sees me still just over the limit, but slowing. There is a traffic Volvo passing me and then cutting in and blocking my path. He jumps out and tells me to stop and Steve to pull in after me.
I get the were have you come from, is this your car stuff, comments about Steve lack of front No. plate etc. I ask why have I been stopped, and apparently a 'light blue' sports car had been involved in a theft in Knutsford, we were spotted an he gave chase. I offered to open the boot etc. but he reckoned we didn't look the type.. So after a 'thanks for stopping and have a nice day' we shuck hands and went.
So boys in blue just doing there job I suppose.. :-k
