Re: new suspension inserts !

make sure you get the right ones. Some ebay sellers have the rear dampers cheaper than others as they are not mr2 specific ones infact i think they are for a camary?? this results in quite firm damping at the front and a bit bouncy at the rear. Theres 2 rear options aswell one for the mk1a and the o...

Re: Radiator Mods

got to say ive never had the fans come on with either of my mk1's. if anything the standard cooling system is over efficent when its all cleaned out and working properly. thats the problem though most mk1 cooling systems are rotting away inside and a god awful mess.

geo specs

just a quick one getting the suspension set up tomorrow and the specs at the top of this page say 1mm and 1.5mm camber, that makes no sense! is it ment to be degrees as thats what i had it done to on my track car last time?
cheers, neil.

Re: Woodsport longer 5th gear

top notch! thanks very much for all that its a great bit of research and trial and error. i shall now be on the hunt for some second hand gears. on a side note having pulled the end cover off 2 different boxes i know have 5th gear nod and pop out it seems the fix is quite simple. the syncro hub teet...

Re: Woodsport longer 5th gear

this is a very interesting thread! having spent all of sunday rolling round on the floor fitting a new gearbox as i only had 4 gears (plus the clutch was gone aswell) i now have the new box in and its nodding well in 5th and feels very poor when selecting 5th so its not going to last long! as im hea...

Re: supercharger ignition timing

problem is the engine has moved and the sensor has no doubt been rotated by now! so cant just put it back in and i need to mount it upside down to clear the manifold, looks like its going to be a sod to sort out then!

supercharger ignition timing

hi, i have an ae101 supercharger engine with the dis and therefore where the dizzy usualy sits is a cam timing sensor. now i took this out as i need to make some alterations to fit my new manifold but i cant see how you time it back up! on the usualy dizzy setup theres a mark for aligning with tdc s...

Re: Engine Tuner Question

saab conversion is ok but very heavy, plus an omega box would explode! you need a vaux to for bell housing and fit it to a 2wd sierra cosworth gearbox should last a little longer.

Re: Winter Tyres?

i have winter tyres currently on my saab. now tbh in the usual greasy winter conditions my t1r's are better. however when it snows or gets slushy they work wonders so last feb and over this crimbo and new year i have no problems getting about just cruising past everyone else slip sliding about. i wo...

Re: planning ahead-coilovers.

got to admit my d2 coilovers arn't brill, great in the dry (on track only!) but as soon as its wet the over hard springs and poor damping control make it like driving on a knife edge. if i was to do it again id do weld on coilover sleeves and fit the hard kyb shocks. the part numbers are on here som...

Re: Tyres again!!

you have to be carefuly with f1's. some are made in germany and brill and some are chinease and awful! iirc if they are the german ones they say made in germany, but if they say nothing the chances are they are made in china. have you considered the new asymetrics? ive heard a few people have switch...

Re: Changing a crankshaft without removing the whole engine

did the engine lock solid? as usualy when a big end goes it over heats and misshapes a rod too. id say drop the whole lot out and check it properly if you miss something while rolling round on the floor having oil dripped onto your head, it'll go bang and its back to square one.

Re: performance manifold

was the orginal centre support fitted from the back of the block? it gives loads more support to the manifold without it, it stands no chance. also stainless hates heat so wrapping them makes them fight against their own weld eventualy cracking. the only solution is to ceramic coat the inside of the...

Re: Mk1 injectors impedance / resistor packs

i cant remember which way around it is but 1a or 1b is low resistance and the oposite for the other model.
then theres the cross over model that looks like a 1b but still have the 1a engine loom and same resistance injectors.

Re: Techy question re Mk1 MAP sensor

i did some tests on mk1 a and b map sensors a while back. now ill have to double check but the mk1b map sensor reads from vaccum to 3/4psi positive boost. working between 0.3 and 4.7v but ill have to double check hope that helps.
