Right my car died on me the other week, alternator. Got a new battery and alternator all fitted. now most of the time its not charging but occasionally it starts working (i can tell as i have a volt meterin the car) and when its not working the power steering goes and the speedo goes. Could it be so...

they make hundreds of shocks mate!
best bet is to get a pic up and a part number and im sure someone will identify it.
