[Mk2] [Turbo] I want some flutter!!

Post by dale mr2 »

I have a hks ssqv 1st edition fitted to my rev2 mr2.

I have tried loosening to bolt and nothing, also tightning the bolt and nothing......what can do to get that flutter.

I had a little on my old megane f1 but that was just because it was leaking.

Any help is appreciated

Well flutter is usually down to a faulty bov not opening correctly causing turbo stall.

I dont think there is a bov on the market that gives a flutter unless faulty.

I may be wrong though 8)

I think im just going to try tightening it as much as possible and see if causes it to flutter a little bit.

If the turbo was ceramic I would take it off but thats not an option.

sorry i meant if it was a steel turbo then i would but with it being ceramic it would cause to much damage.

Ive got a blitz intake, exhaust and hks bov what else could add to it to maybe get some flutter?

This was as much flutter as i could get on mine with a stage 3 hybrid

I even tried blockin the bov off completley but that resulted in no sound what so ever.

If you type DOSE PIPE on you tube that will show alot of flutter, I think it has a lot to do with your intake pipes, Metal are supposed to be better also what type of filter you have on.

My old old fiat coupe turbo used to flutter for some reason.

Ive got a big blitz intake, not metal piping though. Maybe I could try getting some metal piping and see what happens.

The flutter you got sounds good but i would want more than that if possible.

How much did that stage 3 hydrid cost if you dont mind me asking?

Off the top of my head i think i paid around 300 for it. Maybe a bit more i can't quite remember.

I don't think you'll get much flutter from the mr2, the airflow metre dosent help either.

Trade the mr2 and get yourself a 200sx for some real flutter.

Have you typed dose pipe in on you tube? Thats the kind of flutter your after right?

I've yet to hear an mr2 turbo make the kind of noise other turbo cars make.

The closest you'll ever get is too tighten your bov up a little, about as good as it gets im afraid.

Petrol prices are stupid mate, My scoobys been sitting on the drive for the past few days.

isnt it suposed to be bad for the turbo the fluttering noise (Pressure going back against the turbo instead of out the bov)?

Metro turbos have a good flutter noise. Buy one of those.

the reason im buying a supra is because i wanted before i bought the mr2 but couldn't justify it.

Not just cause it doesn't flutter, it did sound it though didn't it. lol

I may keep it and kit a new turbo etc
