Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Valve clearances
Yeah mine rattled when I bought it so I re set all the shims. If they are out then you run the risk of un evenly wearing the nose of the cam or worse the shim coming loose. You re set them by measuring all the gaps, then taking off the cams (unless you have a rev1/2 and can borrow/buy the tool) and ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Megaquirt ECU
Sorry to dig up an old ish thread but I was searching for Megasquirt as I have one on my 2. I bought mine from EFIExtra who supplies them pre built. Although I am an electrical engineer I didnt fancy building it myself as testing it would be the issue so to have a pre tested unit makes sure any issu...

Re: ACIS- dyno plots
Yeah normally variable induction systems offer a closed butterfly at lower RPM's forcing each runner into an individual long runner, then at higher RPM's they open linking all 4 runners together half way down, this makes the plenum and the first half of all 4 runners (plus the second plenum) into on...

Re: Possible group buy/product development - Alloy air-con radiator
I'm interested, air con is currently U/S due to knackered rad and I'm loking at option of ones from other similar cars but this might just be what I need. Not going to ditch the air con as its one of the things that makes the car what it is.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Gaz's low rise pop up lights
Could you not push the light up a bit higher in the shroud so some of the lens is covered, only the light exposed, then do the same at the bottom by adjusting the height it pops up. From looking at the rouge ones they leave the bottom of the round light very close to the bodywork. Look very good, ha...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Water Temperature Sensor thread sizes
Anyone got an engine in bits? My spare is missing the alloy header with all the temperature sensors in so I cant measure them. Need to know the thread size of the water temp sensor for the guage on the dash. I'm going to fit a 2nd temperature sensor for my Megasquirt so plan on fitting it here (so i...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gearbox bolts size and thread
Thanks for the replies guys, its only to hold the engine to the stand while I take measurements, fed put pushing it round the garage floor so I wont be going to Toyota with the Vasaline in hand.

[Mk2] [Turbo] Gearbox bolts size and thread
Whats the thread and size of the bolts that hold the gearbox on? I am trying to fit a spare engine I bought onto my engine stand and all the M12 bolts I have have a much courser thread, I think M12 is right but cant get them in more than half a turn and the thread looks much tighter in the holes. Al...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] whats new in the way of chargecooler setups??
Pretty sure most N/A inlets fit the rev 3, that manifold in the picture is the one I have from an early Celica with TVIS so it fits rev1/2's. Made my order today from Frozen boost, $95 postage! I still dont have enough posts to put up a link but its the 90 degree type 14 and once I have the side fee...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] whats new in the way of chargecooler setups??
Problem with fitting the CC in the I/C location is that the inlet tract is not made shorter. One of the things a CC is good for is allowing the inlet tract to get shorter because you dont need to place the CC core in the air flow. Dont know how much it affects it but will know soon (read 6 months) w...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] whats new in the way of chargecooler setups??
I'm looking at cores on frozen boost's website (cant post link). They do a number of different sizes and one of their 90 degree ones should fit where the ST205 core will but allow me to keep my traction control. Also gives me the option to flip it over 180 degrees and fit it where the AFM is once th...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Speedo Sender Unit Questions??
My Rev 2 Speedo stopped working and it turned out to be the 12 volt to the sensor was broken somewhere, connected a new one up and it worked again (not before buying another sender that didnt fix the problem). Its got 2 wires, ones yellow and black from memory, this is the +12v

[Mk2] [Turbo] Rocker Cover Baffle
Whats it there for? If I were to cut it off, assuming I made good the hole would it cause a problem? I think I've found an ideal charge cooler core to let me keep the traction control but it will come over to about an inch past where the baffle is so I either muck about with bends in the pipe or cut...
