JD I hopefully should be doing a few sessions on track in a high horsepower (600+) R32 GTR next year. Should be a laugh ;-) Regarding R35's I doubt my car in its current format could beat a R35 on anytrack with an expert driver. Though I actually think a stripped, well setup Mr2 with 400-500 bhp cou...
Glad you guys like the video. The GTR is the faster car ultimately (has twice the power for a start!). The driver was ok, what I'd consider a normal trackday standard. I have yet to meet a GTR on track which was really on it or faster then the mr2. As mentioned tyres do make a difference to laptimes...
Only way to learn is to go to a safe environment and practise. Takes a bit of time but it's perfectly possible to drive an MR2 sideways all the way around a track
Oulton Park - Island - Winter Trackday
Last event of the year for me. Slightly slippy track but loads of fun.
Little play with a friend of mine.
Watch 5:10 onwards for my mistake https://youtu.be/KWrYYvANRiw
Thanks. Was a little slippy out there ;-) Running on R888 all day. 205/45/15 225/50/15 Had a major problem with Aquaplaning in the morning and the car would spin up it's wheels after 80mph down the normal start/finish straight. It was probably 50/50 on weather a road tyre would be better by the fina...
Thanks guys. Was a fun day. The GTR was the quickest thing I've ever seen in a straight line on track (would of left the atom's for dead) and tbh wasn't slow in the corners. I've got a few videos from Abingdon the week after this which I'll have to post up. Below is a video from my mates R400. We we...
After running a loud exhaust on my car for a few years, I'm convinced if you want to do a few trackdays just get a quiet exhaust, the odd 10-20bhp doesn't mean that much on the track and it's far better not having to worry about not passing. Not saying Loud exhausts ain't a laugh on the street thoug...
Congratulations to Mike and Phil :) Been a great series and alot of fun this year! I'm pleased to see both Mk1 and Mk2 Mr2s being so competitive this year, in both wet and dry conditions. Next year promises to introduce a new level of machinery, really driving forwards the development of our road go...
The handling and grip is a completely different ballpark to the MR2. I've always wondered if the reputation of mk2 not being chuckable are down to the tubby engines power delivery, lsd's and suspension/wheel setups. I notice most people who comment on the mk2's lack being chuckable are tubby owners...
Jo & I can't make this one either :( It's only 3 weeks to our wedding and we still have shed loads to sort out. Not to mention any spare cash is coming with us on honeymoon  Not sure we'll be back next year either as running MK1 Club events, merchandise and other motorsport events have...
