Re: Rocking horse poo parts

It's certainly quieter than it used to be on here. I still have a Jimi bracket to fit. Is that the same Jimi?

Re: All my fault

I've done a few stupid things when working on cars mainly because I try and rush and then drop bolts on the drive etc and have to scrabble around to try and find them, and I have forgotten to tighten wheel nuts. I'm always dropping things into the engine bay and then having to take off the undertray...

Re: Stolen Mica Blue Mk1b T-bar

I've never had my car stolen but a neighbour reported that someone was acting suspiciously when it was parked on the street outside my house. It may have been nothing but I didn't want to take any chances so got an immobiliser fitted. I also have a steering lock on it but I know these can be removed...

Re: Is there a problem with my starter motor?

Found Pauls post on the subject, seems you were given some similar advice 4 years ago, that was one long holiday! http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=151721 Ha, yes it was a good one! I haven't used the car much in the last few years and as this hasn't been top of the list it has been over...

Re: Is there a problem with my starter motor?

Thanks. I'm the same. It usually does it when I've not used the car for a while. I might try removing the starter motor first and see if it needs lubricating. If that doesn't sort it I might try changing it for a used one and then I'll see if it's a relay as you suggest. As a start, try connecting ...

Is there a problem with my starter motor?

I've been away from the mk1 community recently as I've not been using my car but I'm now back with fresh enthusiasm and I have a couple of questions if anyone can help? When I first start my car there is a lot of coughing and poor running for about 3 or 4 seconds then it evens out. It only does it w...

Re: Clutch pedal sticking

Thanks again! I can't believe that for 10 years I never realised it was a hydraulic clutch and never checked the level. I'm always pretty hot on maintenance but that is one thing I've overlooked

Re: Clutch pedal sticking

Thanks, one final thing, does anyone know what the black circular disc is for in the clutch fluid reservoir? It doesn't seem to do a lot other than float about but I assume it should be there?

Re: Clutch pedal sticking

Thanks Kaieos. Yes I will sort it properly. I wanted to top it up for the moment though for a week until I get time to do it. Do you think it 5.1 will be ok?

Re: Clutch pedal sticking

Thanks, I've found it now. It's empty. I've got some dot 5.1. Will that do for topping up? I know you can mix it with dot 4 but I'm not sure what's in there?

Re: Clutch pedal sticking

I must be going blind then as I couldn't see it when I looked earlier. I'll have a proper look tomorrow then. Is there a particular type of oil I need to buy? I've tried googling it but no luck.

Re: Clutch pedal sticking

Thanks for the reply. Although I've had my car for 10 years now I'm embarrassed to say I didn't know it had a hydraulic clutch. I'm not even sure where to check the level! Is it in the front or the engine bay?

Clutch pedal sticking

Hi, I've not been using my car that much recent so to put that right I decided to take it out the other day. The problem was that the clutch pedal didn't seem to be doing anything. It was just completely slack. After I pumped it about 20 times it did start to free up but I still have slack for about...

Re: Brake caliper sticking - advice needed please.

I've stripped my front brake again as it was still sticking. I've now fully regreased the sliders with red grease but it's still sticking. The caliper piston looks ok and not too corroded. Can anyone advise what else it could be? Or does anyone have a secondhand front o/s caliper spare that I could ...
