Re: piggy back ecu
the answers to questions asked about the box are great too! i bought an old mondeo workhorse a few years ago that had already got one of these things fitted, i think i got roughly the bhp gains he talks about in his advert.... when i ripped it out of the engine bay! how these things are still allowe...

Re: True or Not
unless they meant the pulley itself rather than the crank? that would seem more likely
(but if a garage cannot tell the difference between a crank and a pulley i would be going elsewhere tbh)

lol, so they can cope with being spun round at several thousand rpm but changing a cambelt can stress them enough to cause them to crack? not heard that one before!

Re: Fuel Gauge - wtf?
after looking at the fuel float/sender i have i dont see any reason how it could mechanically misbehave in that way, unless perhaps the plastic float has a hole in and is full of petrol, but then it wouldnt work as you have described, it could be possible the float arm is bent out of shape and catch...

Re: Pop my backbox
it might do, never tried one on a dent before, but it should work the same, might take longer to heat up enough thats all

Re: Pop my backbox
you could try the
'heat with a heat gun and then spray with an upside down compressed air bottle' routine, iv found it works well on wide shallow dents but not so well on deep ones

Re: [Mk2] [NA] starting problem -related to rough idle?
it could be the cold start timer switch
(not sure if rev 3's even have them though) mine failed on my rev 1 and gave the symptoms you have described, felt like it was going to cut out any minute
(and often did) pricey new from toyota though!

Re: speedo problem
i had the exact same problem, i removed the plasic cover and the needle on the offending dial and drove along a nice straight private section of road with the gps on and got to 30mph, then gently pressed the needle back on, took a few tries go get it perfect (the weight of the needle tends to make i...

Re: Exhaust 'Split/frade Flexi'
that doesnt look too bad tbh, if it isnt blowing i wouldnt worry too much, if it does blow when you fit it then i have just chopped a pipe up for a section to fix the girlfriend exhaust on her sera, so have a flexi going spare you can have, its a convoluted one rather than a 'weave' one which seem t...
