Re: [Mk2] [NA] Mouting a super charger to a 3SGE?

Got mine from a breakers yard, it seems to be in pretty good nick and came with a limited garantee on it. Cost me £240, happy with that!

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Mouting a super charger to a 3SGE?

I'm experimenting with a Toyota SC12 'charger, made the mounts in plastic, need to find someone to make them up in a decent thickness steel for me :eye: The SC12 is almost too small for the 4AGE... You're absolutely right, I meant to write SC14... Nice beefy unit, 1420cc per revolution (220cc more ...

Come to think of it, it's just an inductive circuit, isn't it? I'll experiment and build one. How hard can it be?

Re: Engine isn't running properly. I'm out of ideas, please help me!

I don't think that it's the HT leads, cos when I took the sparks out and held them against the earth they all had the same size spark. Plus, the engine still ran as I tested each plug. Looking around on eBay for a compression gauge atm, will have to go from there once I get hold of one I guess :?

Re: Engine isn't running properly. I'm out of ideas, please help me!

You'll hear the noise as soon as I manage to link the vid Oil consumption is ok, although when I took the plugs out the threads were saturated with oil although the tips were dry, but the car sprung an oil leak not so long ago so I though it was a remnant of that problem. No oil in water, no mayo, i...

Engine isn't running properly. I'm out of ideas, please help me!

I have a '91 NA G-Limited. Last week, under moderately heavy acceleration as I was coming off a slip road onto the motorway, all of a sudden the car lost power and isn't running properly. #-o I thought that it might be a spark problem, but I removed each plug in turn and the engine is still firing s...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Deleted the stock aerial

I had to get rid of the hole, when I removed the spoiler trim I discovered it had rusted all the way round so stripped it back to clean metal and welded it up. I put on a Mitsi 3000GT spoiler so had to move the aerial, shark fin drilled into the roof for me. Clearest signal I've ever had from an MR!!!

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] front splitter

The stock Ford Escort GTI splitter in black ABS fits, I reckon it looks quite good too, perfect contour at the front but it's about two inches short either side, I just got a cheap pair of universal side skirts off eBay for a tenner and cut the ends off to bring it up to the rear wheels.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Blanking Plate And Gauge

Oooh, something else has just occurred to me! If you get a black plastic video case, the larger/older ones, cut off one side and file 2 the 2 corners on one the the longer edges to the contours of a 5p coin, it fis bang on in the centre panel right up to the edge so it can be fixed with hex bolts et...

Re: Coolant Help?

OK, this might sound weird, I've searched previous topics but not found an answer.

I always thought that you could only use the proper Toyota "Forlife" coolant in an MR2 engine, but recently an ex mechanic told me otherwise. Am I right or wrong?

Cheers guys

Ok, you got to: 1. Remove the doorway lining plastics and anything else that will restrict you removing the roof carpet 2. Undo the plug to the upper brakelight (assuming you have one at the top) 3. Undo all the bolts you have just revealed and remove the plastic outer edge of the exterior of the ro...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Uprated plug leads, which are best?

I got the Bosch ones, I've not had a problem yet. I remember someone telling me that the magnecor ones for the mr are prone to popping of the plug so I would avoid them personally!
