I think it'd probably be way more cost effective to just get a 3S-GTE...

yeah probably...

not even if you only got a small one like off a cooper S 1.6?

so it shouldn't strain the engine to much?

I tried it,
Relocated the alternator, mounted the sc in its place, after having a bracket made up........
TBH i couldnt be bothered to carry on after realising that its way less efficient than a turbo, and for all the hassle and costs involved it just wasnt worth it.
Now if you said twincharger, like the guy in the states with his lotus,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmscSzFurwg

using an mr2 5 speed box as it was the only one that would hold all the
650 horses

Mmm compound turbo setup. I have been drooling over these since I saw this car http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iObLBYEkpE in this thread http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/custom- ... -up-2.html some time ago.

Need to build the engine for mega boost though and working out the turbo sizes requires some serious knowledge (or copy someone else!) Similar thing would work with a super charger aswell to make a super turbo but then intercooling gets harder and you have to drive the super charger all the time even when boost is not required.

Another thread suggests a GT2871r and a GT4294r can be used to make 45psi and 700 whp from a 2.0 4 pot with boost from 2800 to 8000!

The M45 is pretty small for a 2litre engine, they'll struggle to make 200hp. Better off going with an MP62.

How much do power do you think the NA rev 3+ engine could take 'stock' ?

Hard to say. I'm guessing that because the 3SGTE is readily available not many people will have tinkered with forced induction on a stock 3SGE. :-k

What compression ratio is a 3SGE? Do they have piston oil squirters?

Marf,
The 3sge doesnt have oil squirters,
and i seem to remember that it has a higher compression ratio than the 3sgte.

The one i was playing with at the time was an m45 eaton.

I'm experimenting with a Toyota SC12 'charger, made the mounts in plastic, need to find someone to make them up in a decent thickness steel for me :eye:

The SC12 is almost too small for the 4AGE...

An interesting project I'd have thought would be a 3s-gte block married up to a Rotrex SC.

So the GTE block has oil squirters?

Will the GTE block marry up to the GE head and sump without an issue?
but then i guess you need a better oil pump also?

At this rate it becomes more economical to just install a 3sgte, or buy a whole turbo charged car.

Might be economical then.

I guess it depends if you want to be different or if you want real performance?
