Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Help building turbo engine
The crank is forged as standard and is well up to the job you need it for. You don't need to change the cams either and a lightened flywheel isn't necessary. Exactly. So will the rods I didn't notice the conrods, as you say they are well up to the job. Me personally would do; Rev2 block Wossner 8.0...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev2 pistons
You say 1.5bar but wouldn't that vary with different turbos? Say a Ct26 vs a GT30 at 1.5bar would be the same pressure but different flow rate? Wouldn't they?

Safe is no more than stock for Rev 2
Wouldn't it depend on what turbo he is using and fuel used?

I don't know if it would make much difference to fuel consumption but Mr2 turbo's need Vpower or Tesco 99 not your standard unleaded.

Very good.
He might mean one that understands the regulations on MR2 turbos registered before Aug 95 regarding emissions?

Re: [FINALIZED] MR2 MK2Rev3 GTS Turbo Tintop Caribbean Blue - Engine rebuild
Forgive me if ive missed it, what boost is this running? "dyno'd at 284bhp at stock boost at Surrey Rolling Road in 2010." I was very tempted by this but I got offered a car I have wanted for a long long time so bought that instead. :eye: Good luck with the sale, it does look very good. :...

Premium membership?
Could someone have a look at why I'm not listed as a premium member? My membership lapsed recently but I have done it again and the money has left my account. It did show me as a premium member after completing the "premium membership" link at the top?
Thanks Rich

The standard Toyota Rev3 head gaskets are very good, it will be fine. The Rev1 and 2 are poor compared to the metal Rev3's.

Re: Estimated power projection?
yeah i read that thread too. it says with a 1mm gasket the c/r will be 9.0:1. for cp's. i didn't want to mention using a thicker head gasket because of what this thread said!! The way I read it, CP measure the compression ration with a 1mm head gasket (giving a ratio of 9.0) but the standard Rev3 h...

Re: Estimated power projection?
When I was researching CP Pistons I read (probably on here/link from here) that the CP's are 8.5.
I will try find the thread, I'm sure it was a compression ratio thread with loads of pages, sound familiar to anyone?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] big power gains advice please
I wouldn't bother with upgrading the standard crank as it is forged in the 3S block, there are some big big power builds that use it without failure.
