Estimated power projection?

Post by drchandra9 »

hello all. im in the middle of a build at the moment and was wondering what sort of bhp/torque figures i should be hitting (roughly). i have wossner 86.5 8.0:1 pistons, ct20b, acl's, HKS hi power(straight thru 3" custom), Apexi intake and a host of other support mods ( Walbro 225, new oil pump, all new gaskets etc. I have a link g3 for the final tune/map. Any ideas or educated guesses?!

thanks mate. At the moment im at 275bhp/298 lb/ft 18psi but thats without the forged build and the g3. is 300bhp roughly the max the ct20b will push out or could i eek a little more power with bigger injectors? its just that i want to keep the ct20b as i like how fast it spools. And im trying not to have to fork out for a new turbo, yet!

With a tune you may be able to hit 310bhp but to be honest you're hitting past the maximum efficiency of the turbo at 18psi.

You have the right setup for a bigger turbo.....with forged bottom I'd go bigger turbo blowing less hot air

After spending that on your engine you should just get a larger turbo, i built up my own kit for under £1000!

thanks for the input guys! I will eventually get a bigger turbo but for now I just want to make sure that the engine is pretty bulletproof.

hmmm. the plan has changed a little now due to availability. im now using cp piston with a c/r of 9.0:1! does anyone know how much I'll have to turn the boost down to stop it detting but still making nice power? should i be looking at a mister or water/meth injection ?

So i take it your meaning you cant get 8.0:1 or 8.5:1 pistons so going for 9.0:1?

Its a big change and means your whole build plan will change. 8.5:1 cp pistons are easy to get here in 86mm, 86.25mm and 86.5mm. I used 86.25s

I've got wossner 8.0-1 pistons in mine. Drives very nicely on a hybrid ct20.

hmmm. i didn't think of je! so is a 9.0:1 c/r way too high? i was thinking that i could just turn the boost down a little and let the mapper take care of the rest. im looking for reliability over anything else.
