Thanks for that. Much appreciated. Think I'm just gonna fit the new alarm myself, doesn't seem too difficult. Im guessing I can just locate it where the alarm is now and feed the wires through the bulkhead?
Looking for a bit of advice... To cut a long story short I recently lost my car keys and my alarm fob. I have the factory fitted Scorpion Alarm. I have two other fobs that I had with the car that had been lying around for a while. They don't seem to work though. I have tried changing the batteries,...

I had one of these. If its the one specifically for an mr2 mk1 you've got, then it will be preprogrammed with a map to advance the ignition at different RPM points. Ive got a graph of it somewhere I had fitting instructions with mine and was very easy to fit and just mounted it in the boot behind th...
Hi m8, I live in Cardiff also and had a full respray on my mk1 about 16 months ago. I'd recommend the guy who did mine, he'd do a very good job and is very cheap. He's already had practice on mine neway so he'd be up for doing it i woulda thought, you can have a look at my car and see what you think...
Thanks for the comments. very nice colour mate ,looks great did you do the respray yourself and what prep had to be done? did you get a full strip down and respray? Wasn't a full strip down but the car was very clean and solid when I got it and still is. The underneath is clean as. The respray was d...
Just thought I'd share some pics of my car after it's back on the road from fitting a replacement engine. I managed to do it myself over the summer while off uni and am happy I managed to pull it off and the engine is really good (thanks Ki :thumleft:). Also thanks to Paul Woods for his guide to rem...
Right update on this, changed the TPS to my old one, sorted the timing aswell, another thing I picked up on was that my spark plugs were NOT pre-gapped as I first thought so adjusted these which made a big difference, engine is now running quite well. I've bled the coolant aswell so all seemed fine....
Ok cool, I defo need to check that then, the TPS came with the replacement engine I got, I could always use my old one if it's dodgy and needs replacing anyway, do I check the resistances when the engines running or not?
ok, update on this, haven't had much of a chance to mess around with the car, seems to be raining all the time when I get the chance!!! It's supposed to be xxxxxx summer! Can confirm the cam timing is defo right, and I've done the ignition timing exactly as stated in previous posts and was doing it ...
Yeah I've checked the cams like you've said there, I used the same service manual as the one in those pics to set all that up. I did set to TDC without the crank pulley on when the engine was out using the method in the 2nd pic. I'm gonna sort the ignition timing out later hopefully cos the cam timi...
I've checked the cam timing and from what's been said on this thread that is ok. The cam pulleys line up and the crank pulley lines up with the first notch for TDC. So I'm glad that's ok so I dont need to adjust any of that. I think somewhere along the lines maybe I've messed something up with the i...
My mechanic told me to line up the distributor by setting the crank to TDC/Compression on Cylinder 1, then making sure the rotor arm on the distributor is pointing towards the connection for cylinder 1's ignition lead on the dizzy cap. This got me close enough, then it was adjusted accordingly to ge...
Ah!!!! So I do need to set the needle to the second notch? That was my problem, when I had the timing set that far it would struggle to start and seemed too advanced to run properly! When it was set before that (further left on the crank) it would run better! I'm fu**ed! It seems then that somewhere...
Thanks jimi, that changes everything, IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW! Thanks for the help guys, I got the markings wrong so thought I had to get the timing between the first two notches on the crank pulley! This messed things up and explains why it would struggle to start when I'd have the timing at this po...
