Lost Keys and Scorpion Alarm

Looking for a bit of advice...

To cut a long story short I recently lost my car keys and my alarm fob. I have the factory fitted Scorpion Alarm. I have two other fobs that I had with the car that had been lying around for a while. They don't seem to work though. I have tried changing the batteries, still no luck.

I have read that each fob is hard-wired to a specific frequency. Each fob I have has a different sticker inside with a different code so they must be different for whatever reason. Another thing I have read is that the little capacitor inside the fob with an adjustable screw that can be adjusted. Can anybody confirm this and tell me what this actually adjusts? I have tried fiddling with it but still doesn't work.

I have ordered a new key from toyota which cost me £25 + vat!!! So this should be fine. Only problem is, I will have to disarm the alarm when I open the car. Can anybody tell me how I can do this as I have lost the little master key to turn it off as it was on my keys that I lost? Will I just be able to cut the wires to the alarm or will that stop me being able to start the car?

I am going to look to get a new alarm most probably if I cannot get the fobs I have to work. Will it be easier to fit an alarm as there is already one wired up? If so are there any specific alarms that would be suitable that anybody knows of?

If you unplug the alarm it will disable to the starter. This can be bypassed by rejoining the purple/black wire (i think) behind the passenger seat.

I have the install diagram at work for the scorpion alarm if you cant wait till tomorrow for it.

Its real easy to install an aftermarket alarm as all the wires are in one place behind the passenger seat. I can recommend falcon alarms.

GBP 25 + vat WTF

My Toyota charged me GBP18 inc VAT for 2 keys . YES 2

I would seriously complain about that price I didn't even ask for a discount from my Toyota dealership and I got 2 brand new original looking genuine keys

My Toyota dealership is Kidlington near Oxford by the way, Also Ive still got the receipt

Thats a bit crap!!! They're usually alright with me because they know me in there as I've bought quite a few things over time. I called this time though as I can't bloody drive! It's the Cardiff dealership. I cant see why their prices vary though its ridiculous. I would have thought theyd use the same parts database. I can't be bothered to complain though to be honest. They had me by the balls anyway because I had no choice in the matter. Still worked out cheaper than buying new locks and less hassle anyway.

So when you say the alarm wires are behind the passenger seat is that where you usually put the t-bar glass? Whats the best way of getting to these wires? Will I have to remove the actual passenger seat?

Makes life easier if you remove the seat but you dont have to. If you lift the carpet up you will see where the wires come through the bulkhead and patch into the cars harness. Fitting a new alarm is just a case of matching up wires.

Thanks for that. Much appreciated. Think I'm just gonna fit the new alarm myself, doesn't seem too difficult. Im guessing I can just locate it where the alarm is now and feed the wires through the bulkhead?
