ill check and se eif the plugs are getting a spark, thats remove spark plug, attach to HT lead and then hold or rest spark plug on engine block right? if so ill do that tonight and see. will check cam belt tmrw, but that was done within the last year and i suspect that will be ok any checks i can do...

when i tried to start again now, had foot on gas, when id stopped cranking the engine as it wasn't firing, it made hiss (not quite a splutter) as if it was thinking about starting but thats it. Could smell fuel again too

just checked EFi fuse and is fine. The king lead doesn't appear to be damaged or anything, and the cap and rotor arm look good too

I never got the wrong parts, forget who i used to see there, but think most of the parts people were fine there. i couldnt find any of the useful parts for ya, unless you need a door...

where abouts in warwickshire are ya? i live in brum now but come out that way every now and then.. prob have some spare bits lying around too if you need anything specific. cant remember if i have the dash bits or not, too much stuff in the shed. always good to meet another mk1'er!

i just dropped the engine out to do it on mine, tho i changed the gearbox also as it was wrecked. not too hard to get the gearbox off tho without removing engine, just a pig to refit it if youre on your own..

when i 'grinded' my subraru pads to fit the 165's i had a set of standard pads nearby to compare with and marked off the areas to remove and theyve been sweet as. dont remember exactly which parts needed removing tho sorry.

ive got a sunroof on mine but my spare car is t-bar. i think ill be able to get in anyway now, just need to get the drivers lock out and get the number off it.
How easy is it to remove the door lock barrel? what do i have to do?

there are definately tin top chargers, one of my mates in nz had one. quite rare though i believe.

edited to add, they also are tbar too, as my s/c i had was a tbar.

jo - got another mk1 now. bit ropey, but seems solid enough. All my bits gonna be transferred in next couple of weeks, and got to change the clutch on my new one. yaaay.

then ill strip my old one fully scrap the shell and have spare parts
