On the basis that the stock tyre for the MR2 Turbo is the Yoko A-022, and assuming they set the tyre pressures knowing the stock tyre make and model, I took the assumption that 29/33 was the optimum tyre pressure for the stock Yoko.

With this knowledge, I have been experimenting with the tyre pressures on the Toyo T1-R.

Since it has mega flexi sidewalls and mega-high dry grip, I figured that more pressure wouldn't necessarily make it slippy/slidy like it would a normal tyre.

The results are pretty good actually.

Moved up to 33/36 and the car is a
lot
more

'pointy' at the front, it doesn't take 2 goes to aim at an apex with the car wallowing like a barge

(I call it the MR2 pendulum

- you Toyo owners know what I mean!!), and the sliding is much more progressive, and still very good grip even at the higher pressures.

Just sharing the knowledge guys, don't assume 33/36 is good for you or safe, and I am not advising anyone to go against the Toyota manual.
