Not that I want to stir this up any more than necessary, but Malcolm, are you implying that an active member is someone who helps out at events and organising them (which is actually how I read the word active here anyway) or, as Charged seems to put it, someone who just attends the events?

But then, there are members who join for other reasons than just the events...

I was going to add a bit more here, but realised this probably isn't the place for it. Damn, now I really wish I made it to the AGM.

Active member should mean providing a contribution to the club. I appreciate that not everyone goes to events or wants to go and that there will always be inactive members. Some people just want the magazine and the technical support and that is fine. It just seems to be that to the public eye the same people are constantly being the driving force behind the club, constantly organising the events and constantly being called upon to give up their time for the other members to have the club they want. My post was more about picking out a specific example of what I saw as non co-operation by the club members, that out of so many members no-one appeared to be ready to step forward, I know some people where going to be providing cars for the show and that it was impractical for them to assist, but out of so many members it seemed ridiculous that not one person would step forward to help out.

There are known actives. These are people we know that are active. There are known inactives. That is to say, there are people that are activer but are inactive. But there are also unknown inactives. There are people we don't know are inactive.
