Re: Blue smoke on a cold start. Forged pistons

It's not my detonation signs, they were when I bought the pistons. Can you explain what is blow by? I didn't notice excesive knocking sound. blow by is combustion gases in the cylinder getting past the piston rings, and getting into the crankcase. Some amount is normal...too much can create problems.

dont knock it unless you've tried it.... like OP said, its an accumulation of changes that make the difference. Those Toyota engineers really were crap at their jobs  Yes I understand your point. But we are talking Standard vs. Performance. With that thinking, nobody should modify their car a...

Re: cant Flush Coolant

Does the temperature run higher when driving on the motorway/high speed vs. driving around town/low speeds? These cars use a metal radiator ( not aluminum and plastic like most new cars).....and the small channels inside are prone to clogging from deposits and need cleaning. Considering its a 22 yea...

Re: No MR2s on the road

On a more serious note I think that mk2's must be getting rarer given the amount that are getting broken for spares - what a shame they have a greater value as parts not as a whole car - some very tidy cars being broken up at the moment. :( This is fate that has befallen one of my favorite cars, Mi...

Re: Driving to a track....car breaks down, how to get home?

takman in your quote surely that says a trackday or test day is ok as long as you have a road legal vehicle. They don't like competition events but I have been recovered from Santa Pod drag strip with broken driveshaft before and have thought the AA would cover me for track days etc (been relying o...

Re: just bought an mr2, will it survive a track day?

but now im wondering if i should at least do the timing belt....the thing is that if i do that, then i will want to freshen up everything else. I plan on doing a lot of work to it later.... The 3SGE is non-interference so if the timing belt did go it shouldn't be too messy. yea...i was more worried...
