Yes please, the length would be a good start. I modified my units to take rose joints on the chassis side so I don't know what the original length was.
Hi all, if anybody happens to find themselves under their mk1a with a tape measure could you have a look at the positioning of the chassis side mount for the rear track rods. The buggy that I've built uses all mk1a components but I never made a note of the mounting point for these arms. I've just st...
Just to close this out as I know it's a pain searching old posts looking for a solution to a problem that just stops in mid flow. Problem turned out to be a bad earth connection onto the intake manifold, was belling through fine but when the engine cranked the voltage was dropping too low to give a ...
Hi, can somebody tell should the fuel pump in an 86 N/A run constantly? Even with ignition on and engine off I can hear the pump running constantly. I had always assumed that it would shut off once it reached a certain pressure.
Thanks
Coincidentally I had a couple of spare coils which just happened to be from an old 3.5 V8 classic rangie which I did try but no change i'm afraid.
Thanks
Got a chance to do some digging round the buggy aver the weekend and I did find a few things. 2 of the spark plugs were in sorry shape with cracks in the ceramics which wouldn't be helping but that's not my primary problem. I went through all the BGB troubleshooting steps and the only thing that was...
Hi guys, hoping some of you knowledgeable folks might be able to help with a diagnosis. I've fitted the mechanical parts from my 86 mk1 into a custom made buggy frame, (http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=168209), but now that completing the final assembly I went to fire the engine today an...
Thanks guys, there's a lot of things that will need tweaking and the wheel/tyre/ride height is certainly one of them. I'm not sure where it'll get used most. If it's on the loose then i'll probably put a set of gravel tyres on it and maybe put a set of fresh springs in it which should lift it a few ...
Hi again, thought i'd drop in a quick update and say thanks for all the help so far, (especially to Paul Woods). Buggy is up and rolling. The engine has run briefly to make sure it would and we're now into the final assembly and setup. Hope to have it ready to shake down by August http://s20.postimg...
Thanks very much guys for the replies and thanks for suggesting TB. Paul, appreciate the help, i'll get an email through to you later. Here's a couple of other pics for anybody that's interested; there's a lot of welding/tidying/bracing needing done on the frame yet but i want to run the engine up a...
Hiya, i've been building a buggy using the mechanicals from my 86 mk1 which succumbed to a severe case of rust. I'm now getting to the stage where i'm ready to run the engine up and check it over before i tidy the loom up and do the final welding before cleaning, painting and assembly. The problem i...
No help here i'm afraid but i'm in the same boat. I have a 4AGE from an 86 mk1 going into a buggy and i'll be paring the loom down shortly as well so i'm interested in any responses.
Out of noseyness, what are you building?
