some fuel pressure at static doesn't necessarily mean you are getting correct fuel pressure under load. your pump maybe tired to the point where under idle or low speed conditions it supplies enough fuel but as soon as you ask more of it the flow rate is no longer enough.
we have some of this stuff at the garage I work in part time. I am very impressed by it. in answer to your question thomp yes, once you have cleaned the system with he prep fluid and drained that out, the evans coolant goes in and then that can be dropped out and put back in when you are done workin...
in engines where the oil pump is driven from the crank (either directly or via belt/chain) the oil pressure will rise with engine speed until it reaches the point at which the pressure relief valve (if it has one) releases the additional pressure above the maximum operating pressure. basically the e...
most Toyotas of this period use an idle control valve which is surrounded by a jacket of coolant. This jacket of coolant has quite an effect on the operation of the valve and as such by-passing it often has long term issues arising from it.
did it come back from the machine shop like that? I find that surprising as that really isn't what you'd expect.
no it's not really acceptable if that's the sort of finish they provide
can't agree with shinny more (I did shamelessly use your diagram from a quick google search as its far and away the best to show the Rev3 points) about the braided tee. I had an older rev2 turbo lump so no spare bosses to use and do to the cramped spacing I used a short braided hose length to reloca...
oil temp is good to take form about anywhere, sandwich plate usually being easiest. my personally preference (and where I had mine in the past) was to tee the factory oil pressure switch, which is found in the cylinder head. if you have a rev 1 or 2 engine it can be found here: http://img.photobucke...
yep saw the video okay. if both the oil and water gauge have that small metal pipe inside the braided hose cover then they will be purely mechanical inner mechanisms. here is what the inside of the temp gauges will look like: http://www.triumphexp.com/phile/6/39243/DSC_0919.JPG and this is a rough s...
shamelessly plucked from Google, any of the four circled bolts (albeit missing in this photo but that are there) should provide you with a good earth as they are direct to the chassis.
the gauges would need a ground and a +12v supply so one of those wires is hooked up to the sidelight s supply somewhere, it doesn't have to be the dash though, they could take a sidelight feed from the cig lighter surrounds or the stereo wiring too. that would also be another place to check for a su...
alanmr2turbo wrote:Rev3 ECU weren't chipped to the key so no problems there.
Your problem lies with the passenger loom. Find a REV3 loom and make your life easy.
Good to know about there being no immobiliser/key issue on the rev 3 then.
but as Alan stated the probable problem here is the body loom
could you do another video of the back of your gauges, all of them? it looks like the one in the first video is mechanical which means that the hose (most likely a capillary tube) should be connected to the engine at the other end. Capillary tubes are quite delicate and if it has been mishandled whe...
so which of these, if any can you see and possibly trace through the car into the engine bay (shamelessly stolen from the rx7club site): I've just bought a set of omori electrical gauges (oil temp, oil pressure and water temp). They came with the appropriate sensors but the wires have been cut 3inch...
Did you use the loom from the '95 car? if not you are correct that the ECU matches the engine but the wiring loom won't match the ECU, which is where you may need to re-pin the ECU plug don't think you can re-program the imobiliser, you could re program your key if you could get a key from the car y...
sounds like the sensors to the two non responsive gauges haven't been re-connected (or maybe not properly). The oil pressure gauge is mechanical by the sounds of it so it will show a reading with or without power (its a sprung tube inside where the oil pressure physically moves the needle). sounds l...
did you get the key/lock set from the sae car you got the ECU as it does sound like and immobiliser issue. Although without seeing just how much work was needed before hand and how much has been done its a stab in the dark really. a 92 will put you on a rev1/rev2 engine, a 95 will put you on a rev3 ...
looks very smart, can I ask what is the backbone for this box of tricks? is a standard Dev board of some description, FPGA or a Custom Board?
I was looking a while back at trying to emulate Toyota's early MPX using microcontrollers but had issues with data rates (clock restrictions).
