Whats best course of action..help please
The car has been modded, but have no idea to what level and current boost.
the bits i do know ..
dastek unichip (blue casing) and smaller box taped to it?
manual boost control (engine bay) looks oldish
foam cone filter
de-cat and bigger exhaust
suspension, front lower than rear(springs)
car drives ok albeit v noisy cabin until turbo spools ??
body works good, interior got retrimed leather from rev3 recently, except needle goes awol off end of dial?
16" rotas with proxies
no smoke, rattles or crunching noises, besides suspension! all seems ok.
got the car cheap £1.800 low milage an quick
was thinking, suspension first (cheapest option ?? ) but unsure what then
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated on issues etc.
spent 10.000 on last one and really want to keep this one minimum cost.

I guess the only way you can tell what the engine output is, to put it on a dyno and take it from there.... otherwise its very hard to be precise on the performance and engine output.

So the last guy fitted a manual boost control without fitting a boost gauge?
That's the first thing i would be looking at doing if I was you.

That is pretty scary .... hope its in spec
Re: Whats best course of action..help please
You spent 10k on a build but don't know what to check? Surely not.....
Re: Whats best course of action..help please
Yeah as above but anyway if your keeping costs down you might aswell give it a good service, give the suspension and brakes a good looking over and when your satisfied with the servicing run it at 1 bar and have a nice fast fairly reliable car.
Re: Whats best course of action..help please
and either get the unichip looked over or stick a standard ecu on it once you have a boost guage and the boost set.

Re: Whats best course of action..help please
Never said i didnt know what to check, and its because i spent 10.000+ on my last one that i now want to do the opposite !
anyone can make a 385bhp car that looks and go's well with £10.000+
And that was 10yr ago !
my question was best course of action
ie simple ebc instead of mbc + gauge ( hate unsightly gauges)
suspension, cant drive or test safely ..so should i do first and whats the cheapest set for all 4 corners , without rattling my spine like the driftworks coilovers.
or rip it all off n back to stock, which i'd least prefer as its running ok at moment, albeit unknown power, boost, etc.
or ???
would prefer only to pay once for dyno run
so instead of been narrow minded tossers with comments, why not help me get my mr on the road with as much grin factor, safely and with minimum expenditure.

Presuming your running stock turbo/injectors. Get a boost gauge installed pronto. Compression test the cylinders. Sounds like its got bolt on mods and uni chip, so after getting a ebc and boost gauge if your happy with the power get it dyno'd to make sure it's a healthy tune.
Suspension wise yellow bilstein with decent springs is a good compromise and then you can look to poly bush it if you want to refresh the whole lot.

was thinking along same lines combined ebc/gauge, service, not considered compression test tho, cheers for mentioning.
bilsteins are great but not pocket friendly, budget including dyno, fitting, ebc, etc etc got to be under £1000, if i can get it down to £700 tho ???
Re: Whats best course of action..help please
Not a chance of getting a Bilstein setup for £700 - you need springs and top mounts on top of that, and really you should refresh bushes, ball joints, drop links etc at the same time.
Re: Whats best course of action..help please
There's a greddy profec Spec B EBC for sale on here now.... cannot go wrong with that EBC

Re: Whats best course of action..help please
when i said £700-£1000 thats for everything!
It's not that money,or lack of is the issue,
i've thrown excessive time and money on a build once.
800 miles in 2yr and thats including running in engine twice.
then had to sell due to circumstance ( gutted)
not a keeper just one summer, let next person spend his money, not mine on getting the best.

Re: Whats best course of action..help please
BC coilovers are about £650 and are great as you can adjust the damper settings to suit how hard you want the ride! So soft when you've got the mrs in and then hard when you want to go fast round the twistys!
You could pollybush it yourself for around £100- £150 at the same time if you can be bothered but its a dirty smelly job.
EBC £150-250 use that as the boost gauge as well.
Dyno run £50
Sorted
Get some picture up of your car sounds like a bargain!!!
