Iv got a strange sound!
It sounds like a dead wheel bearing but they all seem to be ok.
Could it be a CV joint or am i missing something?

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Wuuring pulsing noise
Need a bit more info than that Dan:
Where does it occur front or rear?
Does it happen when braking or full lock or just when turning?
Does it happen at a particular speed e.g. only when slowing down, only when braking?
Have you replaced any components lately?
Did itstart after a particular event or incident? etc.
Is it JDM or UKDM, turbo n/a anything that will help us.
If it is a wheel bearing then I had a similar sound but only when the car had been driven for an hour or so and then when driving at less than 10mph in traffic and braking.
The issue was the wheel bearing which had collapsed but would warm up on a long run and then release itself from the inner stub axle. When driving slowly and braking the wheel wasn't keeping it as straight as it was when at speed so the weight of the car would sit on the collapsed bearing race and the stub axle and grind. I changed the hub and it's running like a beauty now and I didn't have any symptoms of bearing failure at all. I changed the entire hub as I'd had this noise for the 15k miles I'd had the car so I was afraid that it was beyond repair and I wanted peace of mind.
What you can do too see if it is this, jack the car up on the offending corner and remove the wheel, try turning the hub using the studs, it should take minimal force and spin easily. If you need to push it then it's NFG.
John.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Wuuring pulsing noise
Thanks terero
I get the noise all the time its with any movement of the car.
You cant hear it at very low speeds but as the speed builds it gets louder.
The noise follows the speed of the car not the speed of the engine.
It sounds like its coming from the rear.
The car has always made the noise since ownership about 2 years now.
Its had a set of wheels fitted but the noise was present befor that anyway
Its a UK NA Rev3
Its my girlfriends car so i only hear it on the rare occasion im aloud to drive it xD

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Wuuring pulsing noise
Pulsing always makes me think brakes, maybe check the pads and discs? Could be warped discs or dodgy pads
Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Wuuring pulsing noise
So it's wheel speed related and sounds like its coming from the rear.
As the others have pretty much suggested, wheel bearing, brake disc, possibly drive train (cv joint).
As John said jack up one side at a time and spin a wheel and have a listen, you should be able to 'feel' or hear something.
If not, it's been happening for 2 years another 2 won't hurt...
Edit:Typo

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Wuuring pulsing noise
Yes, also try driving it and then disengage the gears, if the noise continues then you can rule out any transmission issues but if it stops then it's worth looking at gearbox and drive shafts.
My bet is also on brakes as maybe the rear handbrake needs adjusting or is seized in a position that doesn't fully disengage it so the pads are touching slightly.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Wuuring pulsing noise
Thanks for the input ill jack it up the first chance i get and see if i can find anything untoward.
Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Wuuring pulsing noise
Jack it up and check your axle carrier (if you have one). It looks like this:
Next to it in the pic there is a screw with a rubber tip. This screw secures the bearing that sits in the housing and stops any vibration. If the rubber is missing or worn down the bearing will move and make wierd noises.
Just my 2 pence
***EDIT*** Just read it's an N/A, so probably not applicable

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Wuuring pulsing noise
Well update time!
Unfortunately it is looking pretty bad:(
It apears to be the output bearing on the gearbox.
There isnt alot of movement but it moves.
I will take it to fensport on monday to confirm and price up a repair T-T
Thanks for all the input!
Cheers but i dont seem to have one lol
