[Mk2] [NA] N/a ecu's talk to me (in the voice of terry tibbs)

Post by adzmr2 »

Hey you guys

As you might know im rebuilding my rev2 3sge.

So far theres not much rev2 left, i have a rev4 or 5 block, rev3 cams and a rev2 head, i also have cunningly made the rev3 inlet manifold fit and ported the head to suit.

So now what do i do about the ecu? I have a unichip that i got of ebay, do i get this fitted and use the stock rev2 ecu and mapped or do i change to the rev3 ecu and loom and fit the unichip too?

I'll be fitting a powerdeck and have a 4 branch ss manifold and induction kit, the blocks been rebuilt with new bearings, mains and big ends and new rings. The top end was rebuilt last year too.

Oh i have the rev3 injectors too :D

If i do go for the rev3 ecu and loom do i need the passengers side loom as well or can i just repin?

Would an adjustable fuel pressure regulator be worth it too? I was planing to use the rev3 one

Thanks
Adz

Seems like a lot of effort and potential problems for not a lot of gain.

Just fit a full rev 3 3S GE finish.

I'd go for a rev 3 ECU given that most of the things that will effect the tune of the engine (inlet, cams, throttle body?) are rev3. The block wont make much difference and there is not much difference between the rev2 and 3 heads on the GE lump, not like the GTE lump where they differ massively.

My big ends went and fecked the crank, had the chance to buy a cheap block that was in good nick and ripe for a rebuild, already had the head rebuilt last year so it was jut a case of using what ever i had around at the time lol.

The easy way would of been to drop a rev3 lump in it, but we dont like the easy way lol

Not looking for huge power just more than the stock 158 from the rev2 and hoping to get close to the rev3 power if not slightly more.

The unichip can be custom mapped to with the added mods should make a few ponies more, just wondering if i should start with the rev3 ecu out the box and add the unichip later
