Yeah I spotted that as well. To be honest, he'd be lucky to get half of what he's asking! It does look very tidy, but it's not worth that.

I've always been a little wary of such low-mileage cars. I've always thought that these cars thrive on being driven regularly, and driven properly, too. I kind of proved this (to myself, at least) with my power-run last weekend :D

I wouldn't - it'll be on axle stands as often as the MR2, plus lack of performance with enough turbo lag to watch paint dry :clown:

Last year in 3 laps of Rockingham International, I convinced a 944 owner to sell his 944 and by an AW11

yeh thats potentially a £2k car if it genuinely has no rust. i just paid £1200 for something pretty similar but with 2 bits of very minor rust. 120k miles, but one owner from brand new and FTSH. mk1's cant fetch the premium they once could now, values are dropping lately if anything. they arent classic, rare of special enough to command classic prices, the broad interest in the car is purely down to it being cheap and affordable, and it seems the market is finally realising that. 2 years ago that may have fetched £3k+. i dont see it going for more than £2k now

Opinions over price aside - it is a very nice car. Shame that he's selling it. It's been at Tatton the last few years which is where I think that photo was taken. That's Fred working on his car next door. :-)

Now, I know I am biased (27k miles T-Bar) but....

I prefer the cloth to leather - it ages better, is more comfortable in hot weather (and, err, cold weather too).

It is pretty tough to say what the market for exceptional Mk1s is like at any time. As ever, it's a case of a seller finding a buyer :-s

If there were 32,000 Mk1s sold in the UK, my guess is that 3,000 might be left on the roads (I just made a Freedom of Information Act request to the DVLA to find out!) and that does not make them rare by any stretch.

If I guessed at 300 pampered and 2,700 in slow decline (?) even in 10 years time there will still be plenty around to keep enthusiasts happy.

A turn in the direction of the economy might result in more folks with enough cash to spend on a toy in the garage, but there has to be a ceiling for what was a mass-market, Corrola-based, rust-prone, 4AGE-engined 2 seater.

car has to have been owned for a year in order to qualify for the £2000 off thing, and considering they are only running it for a year it means that old cars are worth no extra to a new owner, but upto £2k to a current owner.

to be honest i dont see many MR2 owners trading their cars in for a new car. we own these cars because we dont like the new cars and because the MR2 still has the enjoyability factor when driving it. so its kind of a non issue
