and some cool vids...

legal friendly :-)

guess you need to listen close for the chattering in the external vids, but very audiable from the inside :-)

and the very funny moments from the gf filming...(in one or two of the vids)

some of the vids there just to show lag, but as you can see, if changing gear quick enough, zero lag and super accelleration! hehe

chatter? :-)

drive by

some launch action, even hear the cams on idle!
Image

some rolling action, low in the revs to show lag.....
Image

exterier launch up to er, very fast mph, very quickly!! :-)
car can be VERY quick when driven correctly! can still hear the car few hundred meters away! lol
Image

cruise down to zero, STILL hear the cams even from there!
Image

some tunnel action!!!

Interesting aerial modification Jim!

Get a bit of tyre gel on those tyres to make them black again, will transform them :thumleft:

thought id update my thread....

had the cam cover off the other week and found some
HKS 264 inlet and exhaust cams
HKS cam gears, and seems as tho its been setup very agressively!! 6 degrees advanced on inlet, and 6 degrees retard on exhaust cam.

also discovered a VERY clean head! so has done very few miles, so again, good sign thats its been rebuilt!

while checking this out i discovered a small crack on the exhaust manifold, so thought id get it welded up. so removed the whole turbo kit!

what i wasnt in store for was TONS of cracks and splits by the wastegate on the manifold!! cant of been holding any exhaust pressure! and would have no dout been costing me some spool time!!

Image
Image
Image

pics of the phoenix power CAT welded into the Apexi downpipe

Image
Image

discovered the wastegate was also a little rattly! and the valve was quite loose! so again, cant have been helping holding pressure and costing me some spool again! will come back to this later!
Image

away, i sent off the items to be welded, along with the greddy type R flange i got from america. also had the WI thread installed in my tb/ic/ hardpipe!

heres the results!

big thanks to dan and his mate for welding these!
manifold was TIG welded and pressure tested to 5bar!!! i dout the manifold before would have held 0.1bar of pressure, lol!

HUGE bov attached!
Image

water/meth thread for my AEM kit
Image

in the mean time when i was waiting for the welding, i took the wastegate apart, and turned out NOTHING was holding the top of the valve to the unit!
its was quite loose and i could move it around a good 2-4mm!
turned out the rattling inside was the nut and washer thats ment to hold the valve in place!!
bolted this up again and the valve was solid!!!
EXCELLENT!

Image

when the kit was off i decided it was a good time to take out and clean up the phoenix power intercooler!
and also mount my old 7.5inch SPAL fan. obviously not being a direct fit, i had to make some custom brackets.........
results

also, discovered while the turob kit was out, i managed to confirm the exact model and spec of the turbo....

its a Apexi IHI RX6B turbo
model.....RX6B TCW76LS P18

and is rated to 520hp!!!!
and can take 2.4bar!!!!

also found out this series of turbo was used in the F1 cars when they used to have turbos!

few pics of the rest of the install

wastegate is a 48mm one. so pretty large.
ive yet to trim my new red ic/turbo rubber hose pipe, its quite lengthy, so i just fitted the old blue one just so i could get the car back together.

the greddy type R sounds AWSOME!!!!!
quality, and its HUGE!

theres kent runs on the oc every few months, (100+miles of constant abuse!!!!) granted this one hardly anyone had there names down and turned up for whatever reason...but i try and attend these ones as much as i can, much prefer taking the car out than sitting it in a car park and walking around!
but last one i went to had 20cars, time before than 20-25.....lots of threads about the kent runs on the OC organised by "tonylafrog" and "gazz"...both of which have organised the days very well....

these runs recently on the OC are WAY behond whats been held before.
last "proper" kent coast run i went to on here had everyone crusing at 20-40mph on the country lanes!
i wont tell you what speeds and the quickness of the new runs are like!
awsome!

yeah I think I'd go and get lost if people were doing 20-40 mph. Frequent 1xx figures would be the order of the day :thumleft:

I'll have to give Tony a shout. Haven't seen him since Guildford many moons ago.
