Re: All anoraks welcome to tell me what this is!!
Fits in the instrument cowl, detects sunlight, and helps control the aircon - my SC has the hole for one but it is no longer fitted
Re: All anoraks welcome to tell me what this is!!
Wonder what that hole was for on the SC.
Re: All anoraks welcome to tell me what this is!!

Front right corner of the cowl over the instrument panel

ahh, is that the hole on the right hand side, top of the cowling, towards the windscreen ?
I'd been wondering about that too...

I had one too...but now its burned with the rest of the SC
however, if you have the hole in the cover bit, most likely you will have the sensor but it may have dropped out. they only ever seemed to push into place. i found mine when removing the cover for something or other, so i held it in place with blutac

hmm, a poke around needed then..
tho it looks like a replacement 'grommit' has been fitted in its place already.

I have a plastic cap in that place, the sensor sits just underneath it.
I never knew what it was for until now I don't have aircon in mine anymore but the sensor is still there.

If it's a factory fitted looking cap or grommet then there may never have been a sensor.
what i meant was that if you had a hole there it could easily be that your sensor had fallen out and will be found underneath (like mine was).

Ahh got ya
yes it looks factory fit, so guess its never had one..
I had wondered if it had been some kind of 'boost' gauge stuck on the dash by a previous owner and since removed, but this seems far more likely
Re: All anoraks welcome to tell me what this is!!
If the cap is translucent black, I think the sensor fits inside it i.e. the cap is a protective cover for the sensor
