Sorry as you've probably guessed i've never been a fan of american cars.
It doesnt use leaf springs in the traditional sense. It uses independent unequal length double wishbones with transverse fiberglass mono-leaf spring mounted to allow for anti-roll effect.

You shouldnt knock it just because it uses something relitivly low tech. Look at the LS range of V8 engines. They may be high capacity but they are very lightweight (comparable to alot of 4cyl engines in weight) for the power they produce and very efficient too.
