i have done a few quick alternatice quotes/ crossings based on a mr2 with 2 adults :thumleft:

Sea france Dover-Calias
outbound 9/6/09 06:45-09:15
inbound 15/6/09 18:30-19:00
with promo code  : CTC or : FRIEND
£46.10 or £44.10 if you take off the otterwasher donation
its only £50 if you come back on sunday same time
£10 charge if you have to make any changes

P&O Dover-Calais
outbound 9/6/09 6:00
inbound 15/6/09 20:40
£64

Sea france sounds much better IMHO

just realised a good point, if you have your travel insurance already (we buy annual multi-trip) then you may be covered if speedferries start pratting around with refunds etc. but it might not come to that...

Exactly. I'd rather go for a refund from Speedferries and give my money to someone else. This isn't something I particularly want to hang around and wait and see on.

P&O also do this option, which is closer to what we had for those doing the bolt-on:

Dover - Calais
9th June
Departs 08:30
Arrives 11:00
£40

Calais - Dover
19 June
Departs 10:55
Arrives 11:25
£35

Comes to £79 all-in when you add their £4 fee for cars. More than we were paying before, but it's not the end of the world on a larger scale.

I would not wait at all! if they go into receiver ship and get the administrators in then unless you have bought by credit card your are unlikely to se your money this side of LeMan next year, Personally i think if you have speed ferries tickets the you should (exscuse the pun) Jump Ship to P&O as its only going to get more exspensive.

Who isnt going on the Bolt on tour?

Thanks to Reema for letting me know about this this morning. It's a real shame this has happened as they are a great or were a great company, ideal for our needs, cheap, fast and comfortable.

Personally I think we should leave it a week to see what develops, however feel free to obtain a refund, you can always re book at a later date with them. Hopefully they will get ths mess sorted out, as a company they were doing really well and have just invested in another vessel so they can fight the pirates even better!

Mark when you rang them what vibe did you get, do you think they will honour a refund without any problems.

Thoughts guys.

I didn;t specifically ask but I doubt we will get one until the last minute as technically they haven;t defaulted until we are due to sail

I'm going to call back Monday and see what progress

ok the general consensus is hang fire for a week (with the exception of people who haven't already bought their tickets, they're obviously free to go wherever) which is what i intend to do so let's all just keep up the good work and report into the forum. cheers guys :D

It's not looking good guys, spoke to a company at the NEC today who organise motorsport tours, they look after the Porsche Club UK on a corporate level during Le Mans for example. We got talking about Speedferries and his opinion is that it's going under if you can pardon the pun!

They haven't paid their fees to the port of Boulogne and apparently don't have the money so its looking well dodgy, I'm not prepared to hang around anymore and loose my hard earned £60.

Full refund Mr Speedferries next week.....

Speedferries are in Administration

From their website:

Notice to all Customers: Speedferries Limited (in Administration)

The affairs, business and property of the Company are being managed by the Joint Administrators, A Swarbrick and T Burton, who act as agents of the Company only and without personal liability.

What has happened?
On 12 November 2008, on the application of the Directors, the High Court of Justice, Chancery Division, made an an Administration Order in relation to Speedferries Limited. Angela Swarbrick and Tom Burton of Ernst & Young LLP were appointed as Joint Administrators of Speedferries Limited.

The Administration is necessary because of Speedferries financial position and to ensure the best interests of creditors and customers are served. The Administrators are currently exploring the option of selling the business as a going concern.

Customers
Crossings have been cancelled for 14, 15 and 16 November 2008 and customers are asked to wait for further information on future crossings and to keep any pre-booked tickets.

We will continue to keep you updated with developments in respect of the long term plans for Speedferries and notify you as soon as possible via the Company website if changes are proposed to be made which will affect your current position.

Suppliers
The directors are still the directors of Speedferries Limited. However, whilst the company is in Administration, we, the Administrators, are ultimately responsible for Speedferries Limited. The directors and existing management structure will remain in place and the directors and their existing management team will be involved in the day-to-day operations.

We will be working closely with management and whilst we explore the option of selling the business we do not envisage any major changes to procedures on a day-to-day basis. Our objective is to sell the business as a going concern and to achieve this we will require your support during this process.

Press Enquiries
Any press enquires should be directed to Vicky Conybeer, Ernst and Young LLP media relations on 020 7951 0868.

Interested Parties
Interested Parties should contact Stuart Kelly on [email protected]

Finally, we would like to re-iterate that our key objective is to explore the option of selling the business as a going concern and would ask for all of your support during the Administration of Speedferries Limited, whilst a buyer or buyers are sought for the business. We shall keep you as fully informed of the situation as we are able as matters progress.

Angela Swarbrick and Tom Burton
Joint Administrators
