im curious to know what everyones opinions are on which is the best air filter/induction kit for the mr2?
and also which give the best sound, performance gains, looks etc etc.
Discuss?
Theres always big conversations on air filters, the filtration level is always fine on every filter I have ever seen, I dont actually care what filter I use.
I ran a 20 pound universal filter when i made 425rwhp, and now im running a big stupid universal filter from jetex, i dont know what can be good or bad about a filter unless its just far too small for application.

IVe got one of these from this exact seller EBAY MR2 INDUCTION KIT
Its great nice snarly induction good filtration and at that price after 10k buy a new one
I`ve got a cheap £20 only and it`s spot on, don`t agree with spending £100+ on a filter when it`s not going to make that much of a difference.
Just make sure it can take the horse power, heard a story about some one who fitted one to a power full engine and it collapsed.
mine came from ebay £50 and nearly brand new only on car for a while and guy sold the car, came with box and fitting instuctions only thing in japanese thank god for diagrams, i might get a hard pipe made dont like the plastic resonator box thing might add a bit off bling to engine
Regarding a N/A ..
I have a Pipercross Viper..
Its Carbon so you don't have to worry about heat/rainsheilds i i have to say i'm more than happy with it..
Really nice deep throaty sound and the throttle response has defo increased Highly recommended..only down side is the price ..they ain't cheap.
It is very important to have the rainshield on an open cone.
I had a blitz filter on my rev1 and the rain drained off the roof into the cone of the filter. Make wet weather driving very hit and miss if the engine would run right haha.
Ive got an apexi on the current car and its much nicer. With the rain hat too.
im running with a Green Cotton open cone nice throaty noise and a great air sucking sound just before acceleration runs alot nicer too and cheaper on sevices -- No airfilter replacement-- just a blast though with water and re-oil. bargain at £65 paid for itself in the long run
+1
Stock box with KnN for NA
on the turbo, none of them make any difference ,just size match it and duct it right.
for filtration, stock paper element - nothing beats it.
I had a HKS filter on my car from japan, and it was shocking, looking through it from the intake pipe out and i could see daylight coming through it, loads of crap beind the filter / dust / dirt.
I fitted a SARD filter, its massive, and is a quality bit of kit,
engine bay
against my hand
Steve-O 2007 wrote:got a HKS Green Mushroom filter on mine and the noise is amazing!!!
ive got the same one, but im not too happy with the fitment. i think it puts the filter too close to the firewall, and i imagine that cleaning the filter will be a pain
As said as long as it filters and doesn't restrict all cool. Only other thing to look at for the n/a's is heat sheilding so a boxed in filter with pipe going to it will be preferable. I've a universal Jetex on mine thats in a Carbon fibre box with flexi pipe to the side vent
On my Eunos I run a £15 Ebay special, filter only looks identical to the one pictured by jap performance. Filters well, flows fine and is cheap to boot
