You have the bigger calipers so no need to upgrade them

Just get braided lines, better pads and disks

Yea i was running 310 on my rev1 with uprated pads and disks on rev1 brakes and they were fine

Just bought some rev2 brakes, lines, disks and pads for my new 400+ engine.

I've also been adding carbon fiber to loose weight

If it helps my old ST205 GT4 wa running just over 475 whp and i ran standard disks/calipers with upgraded pads and braided lines, awesome stopping power and nothing to worry about, i never took it on track though - if this is your goal perhaps a future upgrade could be on the cards :-k

Just my 2p 8)

You could run any amount of HP on the standard brakes.

The car isn't going to be going any faster is it? And the weight difference between stock and xHP is negligable. Its just gonna have the ability to get up to speed quicker.

Heat, not Horse power is what will make your brakes feel inadequate. As long as you keep them within operating temps you'll not have any problems.

For road use the standard Rev. 3 brakes with Carbotech XP 8 pads are adequate, for track use something better might be needed depending on your driving style or if on slicks.

exactly....

250bhp at 100mph is no different to 500bhp at 100mph in terms of stopping power...

the only reason to uprate things is if its going to take some abuse on the track or something.

Carbotech XP10s are where it's at - Awesome truly awesome fade free braking.
(When accompanied by braided hoses and a nice new set of stock discs)

and reduce pad life and likely crack when you need them the most - plain discs work better

everything has pros and cons, I'm changing mine to grooved and drilled :D

but if your building a 400bhp car having pads that wear down faster should not be a big issue, when it comes to cost and maintaining your car,

mm I should have written that better. Drilled discs are very prone to cracking, how much of an improvement they provide is also debatable (sp). As you say everything has pro's and cons

Thats only if they have actually been 'drilled'. Discs with holes, often called 'drilled' shouldnt have been drilled, they should have been made with the holes already in. If they have actually been drilled they can crack.

I did think about what you said when getting new discs and pads for my 2, i just got grooved discs with ebc yellow stuff, I thought about getting carbotechs and all though people say how good they are, I think they will be a bit over kill for how i use my car on the road, and all the sticky dust, noise people were talking about,

so far my yellow stuff have been great, but when I drive on the road i dont push my car anywhere near its limits, I will track it for fun so i shall see how the yellow stuff do on the track, ( but probley next year when i do go on a track)

Yellow stuff rock on the track! Dont forget your tyres too. I did a track day on some Michelin cup pilot sports, and then changed to Avon ZZ3's for the hill climb.

The Avons were no where near as sticky, although a very good tyre in their own right. but then, the Michelins were useless in the wet, so spend a bit of cash on that side, and transform the car.
