Car should be cold, put the heaters to warm and undo the radiator bleed point, any air should come out.

Attach service hoses and top up as necessary.

Sorry to jump on this post but didnt want to start another!

I

(stupidly) forgot to re-secure by toolkit after jump-starting my car last weekend.

.

.

after a while of driving i go round a roundablut and there is a bang!.

.

.

.

toolkit went accross under the bonet from near the drivers side and ended up on th spare wheel, and almost striaght away the temp gauge started playing silly buggers!

are there coolent pipes in the front under the bonet?

i was thinking this could have caused a air lock?

anyway the car runs fine, then the gauge will creep up the all of a sudden shoot back down to a quarter and then settle.

.

.

.

.

and i did get the

"kettle" whistle at one point.

there is no cream on the underside of the oil cap so i`m hoping its just a air lock!

thing is, i`ve read the writ-ups on how to get the air lock out, but my mechanical knowledge is VERY limited!

when it says

"with the engine COLD put the heater on HOT" does this mean with the enging switched off?

also i read that i have to put the service pipes on and tie up the ends of each pipe???????

I`m realy sorry if these questions have been asked bedore, but i want to make sure i understand fully what i`m doing before I get stuck, OR do more damage!

Thanks
