don't be that harsh on it mate. As you know i've been arguing turbo/ n/a virtues this last month. Its only because 've had them both for a while, the turbo is more rewarding, but the n/a is a more sensible car. Your an mr2 enthusiast, you've cut your teeth now get back in, you have done the right thing, you haven't gone on driving experiences and blamed it on spilt diesel or black ice, so everyone will have respect for you :D

The car maybe an economic write off, but it isn't an imoc write off, i bet you could get it back together for very little money. Like the stocks and shares its only money you've lost if you sell.

How fast were you trying to take the RB?

To loose it that spectacular and end up up the curb and in a ditch , you must have been driving like a loon and must have been on off with the throttle to get it bent out of shape like that.

Just be glad you are ok and you did not kill someone. Sod the car.

First of all I'm not proud of what happened at all and I feel bad about it. I admit I was driving quite fast although to be fair conditions were good. I have since found out that there have been numerous accidents on this roundabout (not sure why although I guess it's because it's at the end of a fast dual carriageway and it has an uneven camber).

The garage think the car will almost certainly be a write-off. Here is the a pic I have of the damage, was taken by my mate. It doesn't look all that bad on this pic but bear in mind I hit the mound at about 35mph. Parts damaged were both front wings, front bumper, front fogs, headlights, bonnet and radiator. There could've been chassis/suspension damage besides.

Well it did start and drive after the accident although the front was scraping and the front NS wheel was partly stuck in the arch. I'm sure it could be repaired but I reckon it would cost a lot and I don't know if it would feel the same if you know what I mean. I could just as easily get a pay out from the insurance, sell the turbo as crash damaged and buy another nice MR2 with the money.

Agree with above statements. Get checked to see if chassie bent and go from there.

I reckon fixable. You can get it done if you get your mind to it. Chin up we all make mistakes, you wont do it again. Get back in the driving seat and start a-fresh...

Just needs new panels and a couple of new irons which you can get off a wrecker. :thumleft:

Even still, money dependent of course get aftermarket front and some new wings of a wrecker. :thumleft:

your damage

wings, front bumper, front fogs, headlights, bonnet and radiator. There could've been chassis/suspension damage besides.

wings are removable and have been in the sale section for cheap lately

front bumper - there always going cheap due to poeple puttin kits on

headlight - again sale section

bonnet - uve been offerd a free one

rad - maybe a cpl of quid

chassis - depends if its damaged a jig can sort it out

only problem i see here is your confidence in the turbo cars yes they are faster and more of a handfull. and i understand getting back in is scary. i found it hard driving after i was in a big crash.

youve some options

get the car back and fix it. which shouldnt cost too much. then sell it.

get the car back and fix it . then take it easy. getting used to the car.

get the car back and brake it for parts. sell the rear clip etc and buy an n/a

by what iv read you prefer the n/a so why not go back to one for a while. then when your ready go for another turbo.

dawolf wrote:It's weird but I don't know if I want the car back now after this. It just won't feel the same.

I'm thinking it may be best if I go for something a little slower and more economical for a while just to get my confidence back and save up some money. Have to see what the insurance says first.

I know how you feel :( , as I`ve been there myself.
Mine went 12ft in the air, landed on the roof and spun 4 tiimes. It effected my confidence at first, but didnt last.
I relised that if I can go through a serrious accident and not even get hurt. What was there to worry about.
Safe car - if you do have a big accident it will try its best to make sure you don`t get injured.
Damage to car is paid for by the insurance co ( mine was a complete write - off) Protected No claims = No increased premium
Would you be happy with an n/a - Once you`ve tasted hunny you won`t be happy sucking a lemon
If anything with time it sent me the opposite way & have 4 cars 3 of them are speed lovers

Thats most defo a write off but see if instead of writing it off as a category D, they will just put it down as "uneconomical to repair". Then you can buy the car back and fix it yourself which is exactly what I am currently doing. This way you dont need to start a new insurance policy either. HTH

If you do decide to repair your 2 I've got a front bumper (inc under tray), front lip, fogs and clear sides/indicators going begging as a result of my bodykit upgrade. Wouldn't ask much for them, let me know if ur interested.

Sorry to be a pain but since I posted I've had offers to buy all of the bits and having not heard from you I've got to sell while the offers are there. Sorry.

The insurance have contacted me this morning, the car is a write-off as I expected. They said they had a repair quote of £4.5k  . They've slightly undervalued the car so I'm pushing for more. Think I'm going to buy the car back and sell it on as front end damaged. Will get some pics taken today. PM me if you're interested in buying it.
