Firstly when I put the key to the on position
(not start position) the starter motor engages which is obviously incorrect, I tested each wire at the starter relay connector and they responded as expected. I then took the cover off the relay and the relay intermittently switched when the key was in the wrong position so I'll replace the relay just as a measure. Also The ground from the relay goes to a multi pin connector in the engine bay fuse box, when I tested this back to the chassis it gave a reading, I was expecting to see no resistance?Second problem is I'm not seeing a spark,
(I bypassed the starter relay and wired up a button switch and put the key to on) the power is making it to the fuse for the ignition coil but I'm not getting a reading on the lead to the distributor. Does the ignition and starter system share a common earth that I may have not connected to cause both these issues? And if so where is it located? Or any other thoughts?
