Hi,
has anyone found this to be a broken wire/connection anywhere?
I can't see anything so assuming it is the faulty sensor.
Thanks

Use a multimeter to check for continuity from the ecu knock sensor pins to the knock sensor wiring plug if there is continuity then the sensor has likely failed

I don't know the pins, If I had a diagram or knew the pins I would.
It's a 1991, rev 1 turbo, import.

Knock sensors usually fail when excessive knock has been detected and they blow.
If found to be sensor (most likely) I'd check your boost settings if any in above standard and make sure you're running the right preventative to stop it happening again.

Re: Error code 52: Knock sensor open circuit
Mine overboosted and blew the knock sensor. With the blown sensor it would bring up the error code if the car was revved above 3K rpm at a standstill.
If you do need a replacement sensor speak to Trevor at http://www.tcbparts.co.uk/ they do replacement Denso sensors (who manufacture them for Toyota) at a fraction of the cost of a genuine one.

If the error has been stored, it will always be there until you reset the ecu.
Whether or not you go over 3k rpm.
If sensor is blown, the eml will stay on when over 3k rpm when there's some engine load.

Should have said that was after resetting the ECU ie. reset ECU, rev the car above 3Krpm at a standstill and it would bring up the 52 knock sensor error. A new sensor cured the problem.
